In volume 5 of The Papers of Henry Clay, the second of the series to cover Clay's role as Secretary of State, problems arising from domestic political pressures become significant in the conduct of national affairs both at home and abroad. With the president absent from Washington one-third of the year, Clay's burden and his personal role in the conduct of office are evident. His health becomes precarious, he neglects to take action to forestall embarrassing ministerial faux pas in several areas, and he misjudges the gravity of British alienation—all of these handicaps to the future course of his administration here become manifest.

This superbly illustrated text familiarizes students with individual muscles and muscle systems and demonstrates basic clinical massage therapy techniques. More than 550 full-color illustrations of internal structures are embedded into photographs of live models to show each muscle or muscle group, surrounding structures, surface landmarks, and the therapist's hands. Growing Up Coastal: Life on the Georgia Coast By: Clay Sikes In the drug filled 1960’s and 1970’s, life for a young person in Liberty County Georgia was much like living in the wild west. With a military base on the west end of the county and a pristine, well-travelled coastline to the east, life in the small Southern town was anything but dull. And being the son and grandson of the local sheriffs meant that Clay saw much more than the average citizen. The stories in this book chronicle the drastic cultural shift that was occurring in America during the ‘60s and ‘70s, from the birth of the booming new smuggling cocaine and marijuana trade, to the influx of thousands of troops to a new military base on the Georgia Coast. For a teenager like Clay, these were times filled with excitement, creating lifelong bonds, and memories lasting a lifetime. These are the extraordinary tales of ordinary people told by a man who was there to witness it all.
Railway art has existed as long as there have been Railways. Many famous names have included some aspect of railways in their paintings, notably Claude Monet and J M W Turner. This tradition has been kept alive by the formation in the UK of the Guild of Railway Artists, which now consists of over 200 artists, of which Jonathan Clay is one. Over the last few years, Jonathan has had many requests to produce his own book of pictures, and, having relented at last, this is the result.??In order to save time for his first ever railway event in 1999, he painted a series of locomotive pictures without backgrounds, intending to add the scenery later. However, they sold so well, that they became the norm, and the series of 'Locomotive Portraits' was born.

The first in-depth study of the landmark modern feminist magazine, "Time and Tide." Unique in establishing itself as the only female-run intellectual weekly in the golden age of the weekly review, "Time and Tide" both challenged persistent prejudices against women's participation in public life and played an instrumental role in redefining women's gender roles and identities. Drawing on extensive new archival research, Catherine Clay recovers the contributions to this magazine of both well- and lesser-known British women writers, editors, critics and journalists and explores a cultural dialogue about literature, politics and the arts that took place beyond the parameters of modernist 'little magazines.' The book makes a major contribution to the history of women's writing and feminism in Britain between the wars."--Publisher's description

The connection between place and education has always been complicated and in recent decades has mostly been ignored during the standardization era of education. This book provides a different lens to view this connection between place and education as one that is not optional, but inherent to all education. Furthermore, place is looked at not as an ingredient in educational practice, but as an outcome of education. Instead of merely considering how communities and landscapes can be incorporated into teaching practices, The Worlds Educators Create explores how educators can contribute toward the creation and meaning of the places themselves. By incorporating lenses from many fields of study, this book aims to create a unifying perspective of place beneficial for educators across content areas and grade levels. In so doing, educators are able to see the true impact of their work in shaping the places around them. Ultimately, The Worlds Educators Create calls for education to not merely occur in places, but contribute toward making the places themselves more just and equitable.

From the family that brought you The Lifegiving Home and The Lifegiving Table, discover how you can become a parent who gives your child a life worth living for Christ. In today’s world, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and even paralyzed by the constant flow of parenting advice. We’re flooded with so much practical information that we wonder if we’re choosing the right way. And we may be missing the one thing God really wants us to give to our children: His life. God doesn’t include a divine methodology for parenting in the Bible, but He does provide principles that can enable any faithful parent to bring His life into the life of their home. In The Lifegiving Parent, respected authors and parents Clay and Sally Clarkson explore eight key principles—heartbeats of lifegiving parenting—to shed light on what it means to create a home where your children will experience the living God in your family. Now parents of four grown children—each with their own unique personality and gifts—Sally and Clay have learned (sometimes the hard way!) that the key to shaping a heart begins at home as you foster a deep and thoughtful God-infused relationship with each child. Filled with biblical insight and classic Clarkson stories, The Lifegiving Parent will equip you with the tools and wisdom you need to give your children much more than just a good Christian life. You’ll give them the life of Christ. (Don’t miss the companion piece, The Lifegiving Parent Experience!)
First published in 1958, Ebb Tide tells the story of the Habersham family of Savannah during the Civil War. In her diary and her "Letter Book," Josephine Habersham, tells her own story and that of her three sons; one who fought in Fredericksburg, another who contemplated hiring a substitute to avoid combat, and a third who was just old enough to help defend the coast at Fort McAllister. The diary begins and ends in 1863, the year of Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Chickamauga, and the stubborn resistance at Fort Sumter. In addition to the writings of Josephine Clay Habersham, Spencer Bidwell King Jr. carries the reader back to the beginnings of the family and continues the narrative to the time when Sherman captures Savannah, and the Water Witch sinks in the ebbing tide of the Vernon River, near "Avon," the family mansion at White Bluff.
