Exerpt: "God is My Witness" Making a Case for Biblical Divorce My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. Psalm 7:10 While people may misunderstand me, God cannot. And while others may not see where my heart lies, He does. I take great comfort in that, for I will, at times, be misunderstood, misrepresented and misjudged. Yet my shield is with God. I am a divorcee. For some, that alone provides adequate cause for some to discredit any insight I may have to offer. In truth, such readers are precisely the people who, if I may be so bold, should continue reading. In fact, it is as a direct result of my blemished history, bolstered by my love for the One who has redeemed me, that I have ventured to accept this undertaking. This work began - as with all such works - with a question. What about divorce?

Core titles and titles that are out of print are noted, and reviews indicate which titles are appropriate as texts or supplemental texts. Taking up where the previous volume by Loeb, Searing, and Stineman left off, this is the definitive guide to the literature of women's studies. It is a must purchase for academic libraries that support women's studies programs; and a welcome addition to any academic or public library that endeavors to represent the field.

When the Democrats retook control of the U.S. House of Representatives in January 2007 after twelve years in the wilderness, Nancy Pelosi became the first woman speaker in American history. In Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the New American Politics, Ron Peters, one of America's leading scholars of Congress, and Cindy Simon Rosenthal, one of America's leading scholars on women and political leadership, provide a comprehensive account of how Pelosi became speaker and what this tells us about Congress in the twenty-first century. They consider the key issues that Pelosi's rise presents for American politics, highlight the core themes that have shaped, and continue to shape, her remarkable caree, and discuss the challenges that women face in the male-dominated world of American politics, particularly at its highest levels. The authors also shed light on Pelosi's political background: first as the scion of a powerful Baltimore political family whose power base lay in East Coast urban ethnic politics, and later as a successful politician in what is probably the most liberal city in the country, San Francisco. Peters and Rosenthal trace how she built her base within the House Democratic Caucus and ultimately consolidated enough power to win the Speakership. They show how twelve years out of power allowed her to fashion a new image for House Democrats, and they conclude with an analysis of her institutional leadership style. The only full-length portrait of Nancy Pelosi in print, this superb volume offers a vivid and insightful analysis of one of America's most remarkable politicians.

Avoid the dangerous overuse of antibiotics by using natural herbal remedies to strengthen your own immune defenses. • Protect yourself and your family from the misuse of antibiotics. • Learn how to control and overcome infections with natural remedies. • Maintain a vibrant and healthy immune system without antibiotic dependency. When antibiotics were discovered they were hailed as the magic bullet that would put an end to the threat of infectious disease. In fact, in 1969 the U.S. Surgeon General stated that "the war against infectious disease has been won." But in the last fifteen years we have faced an alarming increase in cases of bacterial infections that will not respond to antibiotics. What is more, the use of antibiotics in agricultural feeds and the widespread overprescription of antibiotics has deepened the threat of resistant bacteria to potentially epidemic proportions. Even when appropriately prescribed, antibiotics weaken the immune system by altering the body's natural bacterial balance. While antibiotics have their place in treating acute life-threatening conditions, The Antibiotic Alternative shows how the best defense against infectious disease is to strengthen your own immune system. With advice on stress management and diet and complete monographs of a dozen readily available herbs, Dr. Jones shows you how to ward off infectious disease naturally without antibiotic overdependence. She provides directions for making herbal teas, salves, and tinctures and includes specific herbal recommendations for more than twenty common ailments ranging from acne to wound treatment.
Belize is a little paradise in the Caribbean's. Growing up in the mid sixties and seventies it was underdeveloped and not well know. It is remembered with fond memories of my life and times spent with my family, extended family, friends and acquaints. My heritage is mixed with white, black and Mayan Indian which is not uncommon for Belize as it is a melting pot for diverse ethnicity and mixed culture. People from many different parts of the world call Belize home. Go back in time with me as I share a much different way of living life, from the way we prepared and cook our food, getting immunized, transportation, attending school, to growing up in the country in a large family with no running water, electricity nor plumbing, farming, religion, celebrating holidays and many more fascinating facts. Growing up third world nothing was done the short or easy way. Most of our foods was served from farm to table and although I did not know it then, our food was also grown organically. For the first seventeen years of my life I lived in Belize (formally know as British Honduras) A peaceful and democratic country, Belize is a jewel with lush rainforest, Mayan monuments, mountains, pristine beaches and among many other attractions Belize boasts the second largest unbroken barrier reef in the world, the magnificent Blue Hole that attracts scuba divers from around the globe and the only designated Jaguar preserve in the world. I am honored to share these experiences with you.
Second Edition; Why Is He So Mean to Me? offers a sobering look at verbal and emotional abuse and the confusing, chaotic and debilitating commonalities of the enabler-abuser relationship. The second edition more deeply explores the highly predictable abuse dynamic and unveils the abuser's mindset and many of the tactics in his arsenal. It also provides an in-depth look at the victim's efforts to earn her abuser's love, why those efforts fail, how the abuser will likely respond when her actions and responses to the abuse change, and how to see through his mind games and traps. Why Is He So Mean to Me? provides a wealth of valuable, firsthand insight, the kind of clarity a confused victim needs to begin the process of reclaiming her value and her life. I have been where you are. You are not crazy. You are not alone. And you don't have to live this way. - Cindy Burrell
