“My storey is about my life. I was born in 1939, and my family literally broke apart when I was “little”. I do not recall ever living in a home with my mother and father together. There were several years I spent in foster care; and then living with Mom and then Dad, bouncing back and forth a couple of times, until I was a junior in high school. My father moved, but I didn’t. I spent my final year in high school living with a local family, thanks to a basketball coach who took special interest in me. I spent some of my time growing up being a juvenile delinquent; petty theft, shop-lifting, drinking, smoking and other such irresponsible activities. I made a decision to change my life after my freshman year in high school, and went to live with my father, whom I already knew was a strict disciplinarian and a very controlling individual. But, I got the chance to start my life over again at age 15. I made the most of my new start, and I want to tell my story!”

These accounts are much more detailed than Luke was spiritually led to record in his Gospel. In Eyewitnesses!, you will meet some of the people who are only mentioned in passing, others who have greater backgrounds than recorded, and some we have never even heard of because Luke didnt include them.

This book explores the possibility for an anthropology of services and outlines a practice approach to designing services. The reader is taken on a journey that Blomberg and Darrah have been on for the better part of a decade from their respective positions helping to establish a services research group within a large global enterprise and an applied anthropology master's program at a Silicon Valley university. They delve into the world of services to understand both how services are being conceptualized today and the possible benefits that might result from taking an anthropological view on services and their design. The authors argue that the anthropological gaze can be useful precisely because it combines attention to details of everyday life with consideration of the larger milieu in which those details make sense. Furthermore, it asks us to reflect upon and assess our own perspectives on that which we hope to understand and change. Central to their exploration is the question of how to conceptualize and engage with the world of services given their heterogeneity, the increasing global importance of the service economy, and the possibilities introduced for an engaged scholarship on service design. While discourse on services and service design can imply something distinctively new, the authors point to parallels with what is known about how humans have engaged with each other and the material world over millennia. Establishing the ubiquity of services as a starting point, the authors go on to consider the limits of design when the boundaries and connections between what can be designed and what can only be performed are complex and deeply mediated. In this regard the authors outline a practice approach to designing that acknowledges that designing involves participating in a social context, that design and use occur in concert, that people populate a world that has been largely built by and with others, and that formal models of services are impoverished representations of human performance. An Anthropology of Services draws attention to the conceptual and methodological messiness of service worlds while providing the reader with strategies for intervening in these worlds for human betterment as complex and challenging as that may be. In this book, I address twelve major sports and made recommendations that are both unique and economically feasible for the owners, the teams, and the people (the fans) who generate the money to pay all the costs associated with professional sports. If you have ever paid to see a baseball, basketball, or soccer game; if you have ever paid to see a boxing match, or any other sporting event; then you are an Athletic Supporter. We have all witnessed basketball, baseball and football strikes. Players and owners alike will go on strike if they think it will help them to get what they want. The fans are never contacted to give their opinions even though they pay all the bills. Even baseball umpires and other sporting officials have threatened strikes. The cost of attending a sporting event has gotten out of hand. A family of four, attending a baseball game, will spend hundreds of dollars. This book addresses how fans can receive back some of the money they spend at sporting events, while holding the players accountable, and at the same time, increase revenue for the food and merchandise venders at sporting events. The proposed new rules will make the game more competitive and will result in larger and more enthused crowds. With the recommendations make in this book, many sporting fans will go home with more money and/or free merchandise than when they arrived.
