I’ve made more idiot mistakes—accidentally and on purpose—with diabetes than you think would be safe. I’ve managed to stay very healthy. And by some standards, my life is pretty “normal.” Throughout my extended career as a person with diabetes, the most important fact I have learned is that ANY BIT BETTER (…3%...5%...28%...91%...) IS STILL BETTER. It might be the most important thing you can know about your diabetes. Maybe we can’t make it go away. Maybe we can’t make it perfect. Maybe we’re still mad that we got stuck with it. But we absolutely CAN make it BETTER. It’s not always easy, but it’s not complicated either. Diabetes gets Better if you make it Better.

I read statistics that over 80% of Christians lose their faith while attending public school and University. Children brought up in a Christian home are 45% less likely to turn to crime, than those in non-Christian homes. It really made me wonder. I took a semester of law through Queens University about 55 years ago and in it they mentioned that our current laws are based on the Mosaic laws and the laws of Hammurabi. When I started this study about 20 years ago, I was going to prove Science wrong. After reading the Bible in six different translations and taking about fifty university courses through “The Teaching Co” (www.teach12.com) I found that different Denominations interpret the Bible Quite differently. In my book I have tried to bring Christianity and science together as Companions rather than adversaries.

These short stories are about the journey called life. There are Native American stories, Asian stories, Southern stories, and a collection of others that teach life's lessons. I have had an interesting journey thus far, growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, and joining the Marines at seventeen. I served three tours in Vietnam and was at the Mayaguez recapture of the ship and crew. I currently live on the Big Island of Hawaii in Kurtistown. I collected these stories that are viewed through the eyes of different cultures on my journeys throughout the world while in the Marines and as a civilian. Many of the Native American stories were passed down from generation to generation by my mother, an Iroquois Indian. My father was multi-cultural, and as we would say in Hawaii, a poi dog culture. The Asia stories came from my travels in Asia, while my Southern upbringing is the basis of other tales. Some are meant to guide and direct our actions on our journey through life, while others attempt to explain the meaning of life and the hereafter.

My storey is about my life. I was born in 1939, and my family literally broke apart when I was "little". I do not recall ever living in a home with my mother and father together. There were several years I spent in foster care; and then living with Mom and then Dad, bouncing back and forth a couple of times, until I was a junior in high school. My father moved, but I didn't. I spent my final year in high school living with a local family, thanks to a basketball coach who took special interest in me. I spent some of my time growing up being a juvenile delinquent; petty theft, shop-lifting, drinking, smoking and other such irresponsible activities. I made a decision to change my life after my freshman year in high school, and went to live with my father, whom I already knew was a strict disciplinarian and a very controlling individual. But, I got the chance to start my life over again at age 15. I made the most of my new start, and I want to tell my story!

During my lifetime, I noted that people, particularly men, love to tell stories about their life experiences. If you know a fireman or policeman well enough, you know that they can entertain for hours by relating their on-the-job experiences. Even mundane occupations are settings for good stories. Having worked at a telephone company for thirty-two years, I had my share of experiences. I share them with my friends and family. Sooner or later, someone suggested writing a book. Not a classic, but rather one of those bathroom novels loaded with short stories. That's what you will find here. However bizarre, they are all true. Of course the names were changed to protect my buddies and me who did and said some incredibly stupid and sometimes dangerous things. In some cases, the company policies and procedures I write about may not be depicted as they actually were. I've attempted to depict them as the field foremen, technicians, and I perceived them. You will have many laughs and more than a few "I've been there" moments along the way. The telephone company wasn't my whole life, so I threw in a few personal and family stories along the way. Hopefully between work and home, these stories will give you background on the real telephone company and also a seemingly directionless individual who was successful because of both.

Recent revelations challenge the traditional view of Wyatt Earp's campaign against the Cow-boy confederation as a bloody personal feud a la western fiction. It was a seek and destroy mission sanctioned by the United States attorney general, the U.S. marshal and the Arizona Territory governor, following a year of corrupt law enforcement in league with the Cow-boys' livestock raids, stagecoach holdups and other atrocities. Presented in three sections, this book establishes the major players involved in the convergence on Tombstone, provides an account of Earp's activities during the 18 months prior to the final action and discusses the provenance and credibility of the "Otero Letter." Discovered in 2001, the letter--believed to be written by New Mexico Territory Governor Miguel Otero--offers evidence that Earp's party was given government aid. The author examines the details of the letter, including the shotgun dual between Earp and Curly Bill, the split between Earp and Doc Holliday, sanctuary for the Earp posse in Colorado and Holliday's extradition fight, Earp's covert assault resulting in Johnny Ringo's death, and the controversial courtship and marriage of Earp and Josephine Marcus.

However, Norman was now married with two kids and based in Seattle. His marriage is unstable and Gail soon realizes that there might be a second chance to have the man she has loved for nearly half her life. With his judgment clouded by the lack of attention from his wife Norman begins to feel that he might have chosen the wrong woman for his life partner.
