In fact it is less and less portrayed as the very serious nationwide crisis and largest strike in French history but more as a bon-enfant tantrum led principally by a spoilt generation of Parisian students intent on wreaking havoc during a period of much required – and today much longed for – political and economic stability. 2008 saw a continuation in the decennial commemorations that have been fundamental in shaping the doxa and thus furnished an excellent opportunity to assess any developments in how these events are represented, perceived and remembered. How and why has the common narrative come to dominate representations? What has been the impact on how the events are perceived by today’s youth? To what extent does this interpretation fall short of painting the entire picture? This study answers such questions by arguing that the memory of 1968 has been shaped and cultivated in such a way that undermines its true magnitude. Scene from westerns such as The Three Mesquiteers and the Lawless Range gave screaming kids at the bijou a white-knuckle display of expert film making. Republic Pictures became a studio where major directors could bring their personal vision to the screen. Sometimes these were projects no other studio would touch such as The Quiet Man (which brought director John Ford an Oscar) and Macbeth. Killer Bs, Cowboys, Creatures and Classics: The Story of Republic Pictures is for anyone who likes B movies magic. It is the honest account of an extraordinary production house, one whose ability to turn out films quickly boded well for its transition into television production. Not only were its sets used for such shows as Leave it to Beaver and Gilligan’s Island, stock footage from Republic’s movies was used on such shows as Gunsmoke and The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.

In Grand County, ground water has been withdrawn primarily from two types of aquifers: fractured rock and unconsolidated deposits. Some of the better water-yielding rock units are grouped together into nine aquifers, including: the Lower Paleozoic aquifer, the Cutler aquifer, the Wingate aquifer, the Navajo aquifer, the Entrada aquifer, the Morrison aquifer, the Dakota aquifer, the Wasatch aquifer, and the Parachute Creek aquifer. This report summarizes published information regarding ground-water conditions in Grand County. During the preparation of this report we identified several types of information that are not presently available, but can be useful for evaluating ground-water resources, including: (1) structure contour maps showing the depth to aquifers, (2) isopach maps showing the thickness of aquifers, and (3) fracture domain maps showing the predominant orientations of rock discontinuities.
