Mining latent structures around entities uncovers hidden knowledge such as implicit topics, phrases, entity roles and relationships. In this monograph, we investigate the principles and methodologies of mining latent entity structures from massive unstructured and interconnected data. We propose a text-rich information network model for modeling data in many different domains. This leads to a series of new principles and powerful methodologies for mining latent structures, including (1) latent topical hierarchy, (2) quality topical phrases, (3) entity roles in hierarchical topical communities, and (4) entity relations. Emotional intelligence is a very popular concept since it was made known to the general public in 1995. However, it was under severe criticisms among scientific researchers and a lot of them did not believe that it should be accepted by scientists as true knowledge. The author of this book, who is one of the pioneers in this topic, spent sixteen years to study this concept. Together with other researchers, they gradually changed the conclusion of early researchers. Using rigorously scientific standards, this research team demonstrated that emotional intelligence is an intelligence dimension that has significant impact on various life outcomes such as life satisfaction and job performance. They developed testable theoretical framework for emotional intelligence in the workplace, and attempted to show that the trainability of emotional intelligence is larger than traditional intelligence concept. The book looks at, not only the scientific reports, but all the stories behind some of the rigorous scientific studies in the author's 18-year journey. Their choice of research designs and how the designs are suitable to provide scientific evidence to demonstrate the validity of emotional intelligence are also described. Building on the evolving literature on the topic, this paper reviews the relationship between demographics and long-run capital flows in both theory and in the data. For this purpose, we develop a two region overlapping generations model where countries differ in their population growth and mortality risk. Besides exploring the implications of demographics for saving and the current account over the long-run, we also study how these might be affected by differences in the coverage and sustainability of old-age transfer schemes. The model predicts that population structure and life expectancy (which affects the need to save to meet old age consumption) affect current account levels, and that while countries with more generous unfunded transfer schemes tend to have lower saving and more capital inflows over the long-run, this effect may be dampened by natural limits (on taxation) of these schemes. The key predictions of the model are generally supported by a rich panel dataset.

In the latter part of the nineteen century, Japan planned to rule Korea. Takahashi Genji assassinates Korean Queen Min and her royal guards on October 8, 1895. Finally, on August 22, 1910, Korea is annexed to Japan. The Koreans constantly fight against the Japanese rule for their independence. Mija’s father is arrested, tortured, and imprisoned for years. Consequently, he becomes partially disabled. By accident, a Japanese scientific genius Ichiro discovers the Korean girl prodigy Mija, whose dream is to be a great writer. Her gifted talent ignites Ichiro’s love. Fathers of both sides reject their love affair. However, their love continues because there is no national boundary in knowledge and love. Seeing his people’s suffering, Mija’s brother Kwyunsoo attempts to assassinate Japanese Governor General in 1943. All of Mija’s family is arrested by the Japanese police. Byunghong, who has loved Mija since childhood, sends Mija to the Korean Women’s Volunteer Army to save her life with the help of Japanese commander of the military police. In the Philippines, astonishingly Mija meets Ichiro at the Lucban Military Base. They get married. Ichiro helps Mija escape from the camp, killing a Japanese sentinel. In the jungle, Mija saves the Philippine guerilla commander from a Japanese attack and becomes a guerilla member. During the fierce guerilla battle, Mija delivers Ichiro’s baby. Mr. Manuel Roxas rescues Mija from an approaching execution. In Manila, during the bloody fighting, a hand grenade explodes nearby and Ichiro falls to the ground. After the war, Mija leaves to unite with her son and waits to go to her motherland Korea.
