Summers to Remember is a heartwarming story written in loving memory of a time when family ties were strong. Avery depicts her experience growing up on her grandparents' farm in a rural area of Franklin County. The setting takes place in the small town of Kittrell, North Carolina, just 35 miles west of Raleigh. During the latter part of the 1960s, she and her sisters enjoyed the day-to-day living of working their grandparents' farm. Although farm life was hard work, Avery's account of their lives shows the love and dedication it took to maintain the farm. Avery's grandparents' home is the focus of Summers to Remember. The descriptions of the farmhouse and its surroundings paint a portrait of days long past--a time when families stood by each other through trials and tribulations. Mostly, it was a time when Southern home cookin', laughter, and love brought together several generations. This is the story of sisters whose summers to remember will never be forgotten.
