Here we update the statistics contained in this book and look at the 2001 slowdown in the rate of economic growth across the three major economics of the world-the United States, Japan and the European Union. The FDI is revisited and as well. A second important development has been the growing tide of protests against globalization. Here we review the reasons for the protests and discuss their implications. Another important development was the formal adoption of euro notes and coins by 12 nations of the European Union on January 1st, 2002. In this postscript edition, the progress of the euro to date is examined. The postscript closes with a review of theeconomic and political achievements of the twentieth century and a discussion of the outlook for the early years of the twenty first century.
