There is no review of Trump as what he has done and is doing is well-covered by present-day media. Acknowledging it is hardly an exhaustive compilation, Part II lists the contributions made by those who suffered from their not being white Anglo immigrants to America. The book is an attempt to have Americans, who will listen and care, recognize that America does not need to be made “great again.” America needs to be made great.

The essays selected for this book comprise ideas presented in oral or written form between 1972 and 2000, some of them originally in German or French. They are preceded by a biographical and topical introduction. As the title suggests, attention is directed on the one hand toward the material world which is viewed in its extreme spatial extensions of the universe and of the elementary particles. In particular, the fascinating notion of the void and its fluctuating energy is the subject of various discussions, as is the subdivision of material bodies and its limits. The latter as well as the limit of gravitational stability are depicted in a diagram leading to the ultimate point of the Planck mass and length. The other topic of the title is the spiritual realm which, as in the Introduction, is based on reflections and quotations from religious texts. This rather personal aspect is also apparent in the frequent mention of the author's teacher Wolfgang Pauli, who on the psychological side is associated with C G Jung and Marie-Louise von Franz and on the physical side with Albert Einstein and the author's colleague Ernest Stueckelberg.

Frau Katelijne, die Hebamme, hüllte das Kind in warme Wickel; als sie seinen Kopf besehn hatte, wies sie auf ein Häutchen: "Es ist behaubt," sagte sie fröhlich, "unter einem guten Stern geboren!" Schon deutete sie aber auch auf einen kleinen schwarzen Punkt auf der Schulter. "Weh," weinte sie, "das ist das schwarze Zeichen des Fingers des Teufels." "Da ist also der Herr Satan", versetzte Klaas, "wohl gar früh aufgestanden, daß er schon Zeit gehabt hat, meinen Sohn zu zeichnen?" "Er hat sich gar nicht niedergelegt gehabt," sagte Katelijne; "denn horch nur, eben erst weckt Krähehell die Hühner." Und sie legte das Kind Klaas in die Arme und ging. Nun zerriß die Dämmerung die nächtlichen Schatten, die Schwalben strichen zwitschernd über die Wiesen, und die Sonne zeigte am Horizonte purpurn ihr blendendes Antlitz. Klaas öffnete das Fenster und sagte zu Uilenspiegel: "Du mein Sohn mit der Haube, sieh die Mutter Sonne, die da kommt, das Land Flandern zu grüßen. Betrachte sie, wann du kannst; und wann du späterhin einmal in einem Zweifel befangen sein wirst und nicht weißt, was zu tun ist, um gut zu handeln, so bitte sie um Rat; sie ist klar und warm: sei so einfältig, wie sie klar ist, und so gut, wie sie warm ist." Da sagte Soetkin: "Klaas, mein Gatte, du predigst einem Tauben; komm trinken, mein Sohn." Und die Mutter bot dem Neugeborenen die schönen Trinkgefäße der Natur.
