With advances in agro-technology, cucurbits are now being grown throughout the year. However, they are prone to biotic and abiotic stresses resulting in significant yield loss. Sustainable management of such stresses is a complex issue in the intensive cultivation of cucurbits involving high levels of fertilization and irrigation. Further, under the changing climatic conditions, pest scenarios vary constantly, with invasive alien species of pests becoming more common as a result of free trade and frequent international travel. This work discusses the impact of core competences on organizational performance as a critical issue in manufacturing sector This paper proposes model for creating competitive advantage through core competence. The approach is used by reviewing some concept about core competence. An organizer questionnaire was developed ,through which data of 59 manufacturing organizations was collected. A range of methods were used to analyses statistical data, and the results were extracted using SPSS. The result’s of correlation analysis, shows that there is a significant correlation among core competences and organizational performance.Using regression analysis, core competencies were shortlisted. Based on this, we recommend that manufacturing organizations should develop of their core competences as a strategic tool to enhance organizational performance

In many rapidly urbanizing countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, local politics undermines the effectiveness of urban planning. Politicians have incentives to ignore formal urban plans and sideline planners, and instead provide urban land and services through informal channels in order to cultivate political constituencies (a form of what political scientists refer to as “clientelism”). This results in inequitable and environmentally damaging patterns of urban growth in some of the largest and most rapidly urbanizing countries in the world. The technocratic planning solutions often advocated by governments and international development organizations are not enough. To overcome this problem, urban planners must understand and adapt to the complex politics of urban informality. In this book, Chandan Deuskar explores how politicians in developing democracies provide urban land and services to the urban poor in exchange for their political support, demonstrates how this impacts urban growth, and suggests innovative and practical ways in which urban planners can try to be more effective in this challenging political context.
