Solo así logrará hacerse visible e inteligible como tendencia historiográfica y sobre todo como apuesta teórico-metodológica, porque de hecho ya es más que creíble como práctica historiográfica. Aquí, en este libro, junto a los logros también se perfilan las carencias y los retos más acuciantes. Lejos de buscar una autonomía extemporánea, la Historia Social de las Instituciones Punitivas quiere buscar su propia viabilidad a base de intersecciones y buenas mezclas. Far from seeking an extemporaneous autonomy, Social History of Punitive Institutions wants to try to find its own feasibility based on intersections and good mixings. Those objectives were considered by the Study Group about History of Prison and Punitive Institutions (Grupo de Estudio sobre la Historia de la Prisión y las Instituciones Punitivas, GEHPIP) –an interuniversity team and with central office at Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM)– when organising what it decided to name in an homonymous way 1st International Congress on History of Prison and Punitive Institutions (I Congreso Internacional sobre Historia de la Prisión y las Instituciones Punitivas), held in Ciudad Real (Spain) from 10 to 12 April 2013. This book presents a comprehensive study covering the design and application of microwave sensors for glucose concentration detection, with a special focus on glucose concentration tracking in watery and biological solutions. This book is based on the idea that changes in the glucose concentration provoke variations in the dielectric permittivity of the medium. Sensors whose electrical response is sensitive to the dielectric permittivity of the surrounding media should be able to perform as glucose concentration trackers. At first, this book offers an in-depth study of the dielectric permittivity of water–glucose solutions at concentrations relevant for diabetes purposes; in turn, it presents guidelines for designing suitable microwave resonators, which are then tested in both water–glucose solutions and multi-component human blood plasma solutions for their detection ability and sensitivities. Finally, a portable version is developed and tested on a large number of individuals in a real clinical scenario. All in all, the book reports on a comprehensive study on glucose monitoring devices based on microwave sensors. It covers in depth the theoretical background, provides extensive design guidelines to maximize sensitivity, and validates a portable device for applications in clinical settings.
Scientific Study from the year 2003 in the subject Physics - Theoretical Physics, University of Barcelona, 13 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: By assigning the elementary Planck units to the units of Newton's Gravitational Constant (G), it resulted that G is actually a function of vacuum (zero point) energy (ZPE) and that it can be therefore manipulated. This paper cites and discusses some possible kinds of Gravity manipulation. ZPE appears to reduce gravity as it is inversely proportional to the gravitational force. From Coulomb's Constant, the "Planck charge" (qP) and the corresponding quantum vacuum (QV) lepton/photon ratio are calculated, the latter by dividing qP by the Planck mass. The QV-lepton/photon ratio is very different to the analogous baryon/photon ratio that is predicted by Standard Model, demonstrating that the QV and space-time are two different entities (e.g., that they have a different number of dimensions). A dimensional model for the QV that evolves from, and is supported by, the lepton/photon ratio is presented herein, together with emerging technologies. By expressing natural constants in terms of Planck units, we found that the Universal Gravitation Constant is the inverse of vacuum density matter-equivalent and the square of Planck time, being the former equal to Planck mass divided by Planck volume. The corresponding new equation of gravitation presented here reveals that gravitation can be manipulated via vacuum energy. Additionally, from Coulomb's constant, we can derive the "Planck charge" and the corresponding density of virtual vacuum particle pairs. A discussion of the ramifications of these findings is also presented.
Scientific Study from the year 2000 in the subject Physics - Theoretical Physics, University of Barcelona, language: English, abstract: The Background Field (BF) is an advanced figurative quantum model of the Zero-Point Field, the probable origin of inertia, gravity and EM fields. It explains too, why the speed of light is limited, and unclear phenomena like "antigravitation" and the "Tunnel Effect" by means of interactions between elementary particles and the BF. The BF fills up the whole universe and represents therefore a resistance to any moving particle, even to light. Our universe consists of a BF located inside an absolute void space. We can imagine the BF as a 3-D matrix of virtual gravitons linked by strings. The tension of the strings produce the resistance, we know as "inertia". Contraction of the BF produces gravitation, while a spinning BF produces EM-fields. If we made a "hole" in the BF, this hole would have no more any inherent resistance, thus allowing to increase the velocity of particles beyond "c". Such tiny holes in the BF are probably the origin of the "Tunnel Effect". This effect is the first evidence for the BF. A second evidence for the BF is the higher temperature of the solar corona (up to 2x106°C) with respect to the photosphere (5,500°C) due to the high pressure of radiation that just leaves the material surface of the sun and produces large "holes" in the surrounding BF. The lack of resistance in such holes allows photons to accelerate beyond "c", thus gaining more energy and making increase the temperature in the corona. Furthermore, if antigravitation resulted to be real, it would be the third evidence for this model, since it would be the result of competition between EM and gravitational fields for virtual particles derived from the BF. Experimental evidence of the BF would be the prediction that "c" increases in the outer space where the BF is less dense and inertia less intense. An anomalous behavior of gravitational attraction
