I felt compelled to write about my journey with depression. My goal is to share with you how I survived, how I got through it. I felt very alone in this journey, and now I realize that I did not need to be. You are not alone, and being depressed should not be seen as a taboo. It is an illness like any other, and there is hope. In this book, I share with you my life story, from my childhood to the present day. I hope it will give you a glimpse of what depression looks like. You might be surprised by what you find!

It is widely believed by historians of linguistics that the 19th-century was largely devoted to historical and comparative studies, with the main emphasis on the discovery of soundlaws. Syntax is typically portrayed as a mere sideline of these studies, while semantics is seldom even mentioned. If it comes into view at all, it is usually assumed to have been confined to diachronic lexical semantics and the construction of some (mostly ill-conceived) typologies of semantic change. This book aims to destroy some of these prejudices and to show that in Europe semantics was an important, although controversial, area at that time. Synchronic mechanisms of semantic change were discovered and increasing attention was paid to the context of the sentence, to the speech situation and the users of the language. From being a semantics of transformations', a child of the biological-geological paradigm of historical linguistics with its close links to etymology and lexicography, the field matured into a semantics of comprehension and communication, set within a general linguistics and closely related to the emerging fields of psychology and sociology.

The year 1588 finds the Kingdom of France in the grip of its seventh civil war. Three decades of bloody religious strife between Roman Catholics and Protestant Huguenots have cut a seemingly insurmountable rift. Philippe de Treffort is a young nobleman and captain in the army of the Catholic League, sworn to defend the Apostolic Faith against the heretic Reformed Religion. When spring maneuvers take him and his troops to a remote village in the southern Ile de France, he becomes enthralled with Sandrine, the local innkeepers daughter. From the moment they meet, he senses a mystery behind this beautiful, headstrong child so different from the peasants among whom she lives. In a moment alone, she confesses that she too feels a strange bond with him and that their encounter has revived in her a long-held dream of a liberator who would take her away from her miserable village existence. Blowing all conventions to the wind, he makes a solemn promise which he is, however, unable to fulfill as the waves of war engulf their lives and he is called back to fulfill his oath of allegiance to the Catholic cause. Sandrine remains behind in the village, waiting for his return. Meanwhile, Thierry, the innkeeper, is now called upon by the richest peasant in the village to make good on a promise to have his daughter married to him. When Sandrine resists the advances of her husband during their wedding night, he accuses her of having cast a spell on him and she is taken to Chartres where she is delivered into the hands of the Inquisition. Only her abiding faith in Philippes promise that he will return gives her the strength to endure the tortures. Her faith is ultimately vindicated and she is spared from being burned at the stake as a witch through a daring rescue launched by Philippe and his retainers. The lovers time together is all too brief, however. Again the war intervenes and Philippe must follow the call of duty, leaving Sandrine once again exposed to the vicissitudes of life beyond her control. She must duck a gauntlet of injustice, expulsion, starvation, sexual assaults, imprisonment, and all manner of evil machinations, including a protracted siege of Paris by the Huguenot army under Henri de Navarre. She descends into the Parisian underworld to escape a miscreant lecher and shares the lot of migrant workers in the South of the Kingdom. Sustained by the friendship of a troop of itinerant actors and the king of beggars and thieves, she braves all odds as she resolutely sets out to uncover the secret of her parentage and to gain the freedom from an evil fate that has conspired to keep her and Philippe apart. When she is finally restored to her birthright as a princess of the blood at the royal court, she too finds herself caught in the quandary of having to choose between duty to family and political exigencies and the fulfillment of personal happiness. Princess of the Blood is the epic quest of a young woman for her identity and personal freedom and fulfillment in love. It is a colorful tapestry depicting a social order shackled by rigid conventions and a mentality dominated by superstition and fanaticism. It paints the vagaries of political intrigue and protracted war in a world where deep religiosity is often matched by extreme cruelty; an uncompromising world that traps individuals in a pincer of duty and obligations from which there seems no escape. Yet, as the canvas unfolds it also reveals the promise of redemption in the person of a charismatic leader and a woman of undaunted spirit. A brighter scene dawns on the horizon, heralding a time when love and tolerance will triumph over war and discord.

The roots of pragmatics reach back to Antiquity, especially to rhetoric as one of the three liberal arts. However, until the end of the 18th century proto-pragmatic insights tended to be consigned to the pragmatic, that is rhetoric, wastepaper basket and thus excluded from serious philosophical consideration.It can be said that pragmatics was conceived between 1780 and 1830 in Britain, but also in Germany and in France in post-Lockian and post-Kantian philosophies of language. These early 'conceptions' of pragmatics are described in the first part of the book.The second part of the book looks at pragmatic insights made between 1830 and 1880, when they were once more relegated to the philosophical and linguistic underground. The main stage was then occupied by a fact-hunting historical comparative linguistics on the one hand and a newly spiritualised philosophy on the other.In the last part the period between 1880 and 1930 is presented, when pragmatic insights flourished and were sought after systematically. This was due in part to a new upsurge in empiricism, positivism and later behaviourism in philosophy, linguistics and psychology. Between 1780 and 1930 philosophers, psychologists, sociologists and linguists came to see that language could only be studied in the context of dialogue, in the context of human life and finally as being a kind of human action itself.

This volume examines the promotion and defense of democracy in the Americas. Taking the Inter-American Democratic Charter (IADC) of 2001 as a baseline, it charts the evolution of the issue over the past decade. Although it considers historical antecedents, the main focus of the book is on key instances of promotion and defense of democracy in the Western hemisphere since the adoption of the IADC. It analyzes democratic norms, norm enforcement mechanisms and how they work in practice. Special attention is paid to the 2009 Honduras coup, the issues raised by it and the debates that surrounded it, as this was the first instance in which a member state was suspended in accordance with the IADC. Three central themes guide the analysis: the nature of challenges to democracy in Latin America; the role of regional organizations as democracy promoters; and the transformation of Inter-American relations. It strives to show that Plato's definition of the Creator God is valid. He created the Cosmos - the region of the distinctions that have intelligibility to the intelligence of human awareness (Ge-wahr-sein). They belong to the human power of knowing through simultaneity, due to God's generosity. Plato affirms, in his "Timaeus" (36d-41b) the importance of the 'psyche' - the soul. It means in Greek originally 'breath' , this affirms the reality of 'self-movement' - 'Eigenbewegung. It is the power whose ability to change depends on the person's own accord, its own intention.. It is the anti-dote to Newton's 'understanding', of the 'law' of the physical, material bodies, which demand another power to change their movement . The reality of psyche justifies the concept of 'auto-kinesis' - as cause.We can understand that God created the world as good as possible. He was good and the good is never jealous! He told us that He is our Father, of the creation that is indissoluble, if 'He wills it so'. All that is bound may be undone, but you shall not be liable to the fate of death, having in His will a greater and mightier bond than those with which you were bound. The writings of the British philosopher Alfred A.E. Taylor gave me better understanding of the validity to acknowledge our human contact with eternal reality, culminating in the concept of "Creator God", which our contemporary academicians consider spurious. LaPlace had assured Napoleon already that we do not need the concept of God any longer; he was not aware that the 'sciences of physics' were under the veil of dubious numbers. accepting that : "Minus times Minus is plus" "The Reason for this we do not discuss"!! Pascal was one of the most out-spoken to reject as 'pure nonsense' the teaching of the 'subtraction of 'four' from '0'. Some tried to understand that to take four from zero remains 'zero'. Yet there never was 'any thing' to be taken! Nietzsche had warned us, that "the numbers had put a 'veil' over our thoughts".The Arabic number system was soo 'handy'!. The 'death of God' was soon proclaimed. The asthonishing fact that the oldest societies in the Euphrat-Tigres triangle had concepts of "Paradise lost" in their memory- langua≥ in their -Sumerian, Indo-Persian Lore. The trilingual text could finally be decipher achieved in 1844 by Rawlinson, when he achieved to decipher the ancient form of writing used in Mesopotamia for many languages in the millennia leading to the first century A.D. He could copy relief sculptures and their accompanying cuneiform inscriptions in Old Persian, Elamite and Babylonian. He could decipher their meaning. They became as the Rosetta Stone for the Hieroglyphics. In 1857 a contest sponsored by the London Royal Asiatic society, pitting Him against other Scholars, proved that he had broken the code. The concept of Paradise was known to these societies, 4000-3000 years prior to Hebrew report. It is worth-while to remember. Brigitte Dehmelt Cooper tried to keep these distinctions in her attention.

It is a dry lubricant material and has become indispensable in high-vacuum and space applications. Semiconducting MoS2 photoelectrodes have achieved sizable solar energy conversions in photoelectrochemical cells. Its capability to reversibly intercalate lithium ions enables the construction of low-weight, high efficiency, secondary batteries. MoS2 doped with cobalt is useful as a catalyst of the hydrosulfurization of organic compounds. All these remarkable properties are related to its layered structure built up of covalently bound SMoS sheets held together by only weak van der Waals forces.

This volume describes preparation and properties of the enormous number of molybdenum oxide sulfide ions. The monomeric anions display an impressive range of colors - yellow to a deep reddish orange - which in 1826 fascinated Berzelius. Nowadays, however, the stimulus for research and development springs from bioinorganic chemistry. Numerous molybdenum chalcogenide halides are known: the most investigated have been those containing Mo6 clusters. In addition, the volume contains the binary molybdenum selenides; of these, the most important is the heavily studied MoSe2. Among the molybdenum dichalcogenides, MoSe2 shows the most promising photoelectrochemical properties, making it attractive for use in electrochemical solar cells. All binary molybdenum selenides reversibly intercalate a variety of metals - of importance for use in rechargeable batteries.
