When Jim Keaton learns that his brother Billy has died and has left him an inheritance, Jim leaves his home in Del Rio, Texas, a sleepy border town along the Rio Grande River, and travels to Denver. He hears about his brother's dealings with the diamond fields and sets out to investigate. Jim finds himself settling into the corner where Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming meet. While looking for the diamond field, he runs into hardheaded Ed Cole, a man set in his ways who uses public ground for sheep grazing. Befriending Cole places Jim in the middle of a nasty range dispute that could become deadly at any moment. Suspicion arises when Jim recognizes Tom Horn, a former Indian scout but now a range detective with a reputation for eliminating rustlers without a trial. Horn is working on Cold Spring Mountain masquerading as a man named James Hicks. When men start dying, blame is placed on Horn. Only Jim knows the truth, and he's not sure he can or wants to handle that burden.

As the cable TV industry exploded in the 1980s, offering viewers dozens of channels, an unprecedented number of series were produced. For every successful sitcom--The Golden Girls, Family Ties, Newhart--there were flops such as Take Five with George Segal, Annie McGuire with Mary Tyler Moore, One Big Family with Danny Thomas and Life with Lucy starring Lucille Ball, proving that a big name does not a hit show make. Other short-lived series were springboards for future stars, like Day by Day (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), The Duck Factory (Jim Carrey), Raising Miranda (Bryan Cranston) and Square Pegs (Sarah Jessica Parker). This book unearths many single-season sitcoms of the '80s, providing behind-the-scenes stories from cast members, guest stars, writers, producers and directors.
Many people know of Milwaukee's famous beer brewers, such as Schlitz, Pabst, and Miller, but these pages contain the story of the original baseball Brewers. The Milwaukee Brewers of the American Association spent 51 seasons (1902-1952) on the city's near north side. To have had the opportunity to stretch out in the sun-soaked stands of Borchert Field during that era was to witness minor league baseball at its best. The Brewers were the second-winningest franchise in the league's history, and names like Tom "Sugar Boy" Dougherty and Nick "Tomato Face" Cullop were once household words throughout the city. This book stands as a tribute to the colorful history of this team and to all the former players, coaches, and managers who ever wore the woolens for Milwaukee.

In Dylan, Bob Spitz provides a dramatic yet clear-eyed view of the enigmatic guru of modern music. Drawing on hundreds of interviews with Dylan's family, friends, lovers and fellow musicians. Spitz presents the true Bob Dylan in a vast array of guises: the early years in small-town Minnesota, when Bobby Zimmerman - loner, gadabout and local weirdo - reinvented himself as Bob Dylan and set out to be a star; his struggle to conquer the night world of Greenwich Village in the early 1960s; the cataclysm that rocked the music world when he went electric; the mad years, when drugs and paranoia corrupted his gospel of peace and love; his flirtations with political causes, born-again Christianity, Orthodox Judaism and the glitter of superstardom.
In front of the camera, he has been invited into the homes of millions of Americans as host of The Price Is Right, Truth or Consequences, Miss USA, Miss Universe, The Rose Parade, and many other programs and specials. Now Bob Barker shares stories of favorite contestants, episodes, celebrity encounters, and behind-the-scenes happenings. Beyond his public persona, he will open up about his personal life. From being raised on a Native American reservation by a single mother through the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, to training as a pilot in the Navy during World War II, through his romance with the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Dorothy Jo, and his success at retirement. His support of animal rights has always been a central part of his life. Bob delves into stories of how he has taken on Hollywood and the government in his crusade, including his anti-fur stand-off with beauty pageants, his involvement in uncovering animal abuse in movies and television, and the legislation he helped to pass. He also shares stories of rescuing animals, from dogs to elephants. For the innumerable fans who have welcomed Bob into their homes over the last fifty years, this book will be like catching up with a dear and familiar friend who continues to lead a full and endlessly interesting life.
May you build a ladder to the stars And climb on every rung May you stay forever young Since he first released his self-titled debut in 1962, Bob Dylan has been one of the most celebrated artists of our time. And perhaps nowhere is he more affecting than in his 1974 hit, Forever Young. It's an antem to youth, to doing the right thing, to cherishing the spirit of being young. Re-imagined by award-winning illustrator, Paul Rogers, the lyrics tell the story of a young boy who travels through his life, living in the footsteps of the man who gave the world the greatest gift he had: music.
Gathered here are the most revealing and personal of enigmatic superstar Dylan's previously unavailable interviews. As a group they show a brilliant, adored, and eclectic musician, unsettled and angered by the fame and reverence surrounding him.
Dylan on Dylan' gathers together 31 of the most significant and revealing conversations with the singer, stretching over 40 years from the earliest days of his career in 1962 through to 2004.
