This volume concentrates on Henry Bishop Sr., and his wife Francis "Fanny" Simpkins Bishop, and their many descendants. Henry was the son of Hans Johannes Bischoff and Margaretha Overmeyer, and settled in the Floyd County Virginia area as a child with his parents. His family remained there, and many of his descendants are in that area to this day. The major sources for this volume have been Mrs. Joyce Buckert, of Illinois, she published the first and most well know volume about Henry and his descendants, and much of the information contained in this volume utilizes her information (with her permission) as well as quite a few updates that Ms. Buckert has been so kind as to provide. Of course, anyone researching the Descendants of Henry Bishop and Fanny Simpkins should absolutely refer to Ms. Buckert's original publication as well as utilizing this volume to supplement the research for any additional, later added, information.

Just look at the chapter titles. That should be enough to want to know more. I would call this tale a twisted dark romance with a keen sense of humor. Something like a warped modern day Romeo and Juliet with all the modern problems. Sorry, no vampires here. Once you start reading you probably wont even miss them. There are plenty of bloodsuckers of a different kind. Careful, you might even learn something. If nothing else, youll get sucked into these colorful and sometimes unlikable peoples lives. Its all about love and hate and the thin line in between. If youre the least bit curious open it to any page and read. Youll want to keep reading to find out what happens. Youll get addicted, youll want more. I hope.

This title was first published in 2001. This work is a response to criticisms that investment liberalization in the APEC region is not moving quickly enough. It commences with a historical overview of APEC's process for investment liberalization and a description of current foreign direct investment policies for each of the APEC economies. It then argues that there are significant constraints to further liberalization arising from economic development concerns in the developing countries and political considerations in both developed and developing countries in the region. It also suggests that a truly liberalized investment environment would involve the removal of investment incentives. Again, there are political and institutional reasons that make this difficult. With several suggestions for further research that should better inform policy makers, this is an informative insight into the complex issues involved in the liberalization process in the APEC region.
