This book discusses innovation and invention. It introduces innovation, the innovation eco-system needed in company to succeed in innovation, the need for innovation and its timing with respect to the product life cycle. It shows how to develop innovation strategy and get ready for product development, the management of innovation processes from the concept phase to commercialization and supplies practical tools and techniques for achieving success in complex, fast-track technology development projects. In today’s world of fast-paced innovation from all corners of the world, technology is getting obsolete much faster than it was 50 years ago. In order to match the fast-evolving market demand and evolution of technology, one needs to innovate much faster. The whole process of developing technology/product/services from concept phase to prototyping to series production and commercialization has to happen in a very structured way so that the process is not only fast-track and lean but also very efficient. The methodology presented in the book has been applied in many real-life projects. The book will be of interest to professionals in business and technology as well as students.
Freshwater Aquaculture – the study of breeding, rearing and commercialization of organisms, fish in particular, which inhabit in fresh water. Even though there remains some fragmentary information regarding the history of development of aquaculture in India but those seem to be far from being complete. In the present communication, the same has been given elaborately. The book concentrates on the culture technology of commercially important fresh water fishes. Various types of culture techniques including Aquaponics, Bioflocs, Recirculatory Aquaculture Systems (RAS) apart from the conventional Cage culture, Pen culture, Integration of fish culture with other crops viz. paddy, vegetables, dairy, piggery, poultry etc. have been dispensed in detail. Note: T&F does not sell or distribute the Hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
This first of three volumes focuses on the evolution of Bengal's economy and society over the entire pre-colonial period beginning from pre-historic days. There is no documented, authentic history of Bengal. Indeed, more of the early history of India can be learned from the writings of other nationals. Yet even this material is very much related to chronologies of regimes and local to urban settlements and centres of trade. There remains little or no information on the villages where the vast majority lived and still live. Furthermore, until this work, little or no consideration has been given to the hugely influential period between Vasco de Gama's journey to India in 1498 and the battle of Palashi in 1757, a period in which the Mughal Empire held political power while the English, Dutch, French and Danes and other European nations grasped and held on to economic power. Much has been written on the Mughal Empire, but little of the role of the European trading companies in the two and a half centuries preceding Clive's victory. This book addresses that void and seeks also to explore the political, social and historical context in Bengal that facilitated the transfer of power into European hands. Given such a lack of source information, the author examines oral history, carried from generation to generation, recognizing their fallibility, but using those histories to corroborate what is known from other sources - from archaeological findings (coins, inscriptions, copper plates) through (invariably biased or localized) accounts from travellers, to economic, agricultural and ecological factors - relating them to known chronological events to provide a well-rounded history and, indeed, a study that uncovers the roots of the many issues in the colonial and post-colonial eras.
With the increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration and the resulting environmental consequences for plants, it is necessary to consider the future of rubber plantations, an important source of latex for rubber production. In this volume, the authors explore the ecology of rubber plantations in the context of carbon management under a scenario of our changing climate. The authors provide an in-depth study of the carbon stock and sequestration potentiality of rubber plantations. The volume also provides information on a biomass estimating model that can be used in the future study of non-harvesting biomass estimation for a variety of plants. Key features: • Provides an understanding of the role of rubber plantations in carbon management • Presents biomass models and biomass carbon stocks • Explores the impact of land use changes on soil organic carbon • Looks at ecosystem carbon sequestration • Explores methods of allometric model development for different growth ages of rubber plantations • Advances our knowledge of the global carbon cycle that will be helpful in studying changing environmental effects on other crops and plant products.
