Bernard M. L. Ernst's Books

Bernard Eugene Meland (1899–1993) was a leader in the pragmatic tradition of constructive theology associated with the University of Chicago. This volume contains more than forty-six previously unpublished lectures, reports, and other personal documents that Meland wrote at various times between 1937 and 1979. It is a companion volume to W. Creighton Peden’s book, Life and Thought of Bernard Eugene Meland, American Constructive Theologian, 1899–1993, and is intended to give the reader a deeper understanding of Meland’s methods and thought.

This book contains quotations that reflect the ideas, beliefs, and thoughts of many of the leading psychologists, psychiatrists, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, and theorists. These quotations have been chosen because they are insightful, witty, personally revealing, cleverly worded, and/or provocative. They demonstrate that the leading figures in the field are not only wise, and insightful, but also flawed and human like all of us. The quotations can be used for reference, speeches, lectures, writings, or simply for one's own enjoyment.

Previously unpublished archival material helps us reassess this famous, but seldom studied, classic that prompted modern logic and computers.
