We are now doing business in a global village. The sourcing of raw material, its manufacturing, selling and distribution are done, irrespective of geographical boundaries, through seamless transaction over the internet. The new style of business and economy is transcending time and space boundaries, and monetary transactions are now faceless and paperless. Needless to mention, we need to equip ourselves with updated technologies and infrastructure to cope with the new environment of doing business under a new ecosystem. Besides this qualitative change in the way of doing business, at present, another challenge is the turmoil caused by the sudden onslaught of the pandemic and the world over, the impact of COVID19 on people’s daily life continues to be terrible. We now have better medical facilities and medicines but poorer health, higher IQ and intellectual brain but poorer common sense and spiritual experience, potent weaponry to eliminate enemy in a war but poor bravery to sustain peace and statesmanship. We have twisted and wound up ourselves too much and are now unable to look at our simple life scenario with straight and simple eyes. Therefore the time has come for us to learn how we should unwind and relax ourselves to enjoy our fruits of labour that we have earned. This Book titled ‘Life Lessons from Gitaji on New Economy’ would be dealing with these issues in the light of Wisdom as explained in Gita by Bhagwan Krishna on human behaviour (Karma) in tandem (Yoga) with the Laws of the Nature. The language and approach may look somewhere out of context but that has been done purposefully to provoke its reader to think out of Box.

The book ‘Forest Rights Act – Accelerated Deforestation’ has highlighted the disastrous consequences of enactment and implementation of “The Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 and Rules, 2008” on the forests of the country. With graphic details taken from the states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha and Karnataka, the book has recounted how this Act and the Rules, introduced during the UPA regime ostensibly for setting right historical injustice, have triggered decimation, fragmentation and degradation of millions of hectares of forest in a span of just a decade and a half. The book has also underscored the role of aggressive politicians, scheming activists and pliant bureaucrats in the implementation of the FRA which in a roundabout manner has facilitated regularization of unauthorized forest encroachments, virtually negating the benefits accrued from the historic Forest (Conservation) Act of 1980. It has also questioned the open-ended nature of the Act with no last date for claiming rights under it, which has resulted in opening floodgates for fresh encroachment of forest land throughout the length and breadth of the country. Given the far-reaching and beneficial influence of the forest ecosystems on the life and future of humankind, and also considering the ominous implications of the FRA on the country’s shrinking forests, already on the brink of an ecological disaster, the book has recommended repeal of the Act.

The Charter of the United Nations contained a statement that the people of the United Nations reaffirm their faith in certain inalienable Human Rights, in the dignity of human beings and in essential equality of rights of men and women. This statement led to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which was adopted by the United Nations on 10th December 1948. This Declaration guided, encouraged, and in some cases, put pressure on the nations to recognise these rights or Acts as rights which may be claimed and enforced by citizens and other human beings. India framed its Constitution soon after the Declaration and gave effect to many of the rights contained in the Declaration. Later some of them formed part of a statute and some have been knit in the Constitution by our Courts. This book contains the text of the Declaration with explanatory comments by the author. John Travers Mends (Jack) Gibson was born on March 3, 1908 and died on October 23, 1994 at the age of 86.In some ways, Jack was the last Indian Englishman. He came ten years before independence and stayed on 47 years after it, rendering dedicated service to the country of his adoption for 57 years. Jack's journey started as a school teacher at The Doon School. He was the last English Principal of Mayo College and the last English President of the Himalayan Club. He was the last, and for most of the time the only English resident of Ajmer. He must have been just about the last Englishman to have been honored by both the British and Indian Governments.Brij Sharma is a journalist based in Bahrain. He spent much of his childhood and youth in Dehra Dun, and while not a product of The Doon School, he has known its campus, the surroundings of the city and much of the mountainous terrain described in Gibson's letters.http://www.jtmgibson.com

Software-defined network (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) are two technology trends that have revolutionized network management, particularly in highly distributed networks that are used in public, private, or hybrid cloud services. SDN and NFV technologies, when combined, simplify the deployment of network resources, lower capital and operating expenses, and offer greater network flexibility. The increasing usage of NFV is one of the primary factors that make SDN adoption attractive. The integration of these two technologies; SDN and NFV, offer a complementary service, with NFV delivering many of the real services controlled in an SDN. While SDN is focused on the control plane, NFV optimizes the actual network services that manage the data flows. Devices such as routers, firewalls, and VPN terminators are replaced with virtual devices that run on commodity hardware in NFV physical networking. This resembles the 'as-a-service' typical model of cloud services in many aspects. These virtual devices can be accessed on-demand by communication, network, or data center providers.This book illustrates the fundamentals and evolution of SDN and NFV and highlights how these two technologies can be integrated to solve traditional networking problems. In addition, it will focus on the utilization of SDN and NFV to enhance network security, which will open ways to integrate them with current technologies such as IoT, edge computing and blockchain, SDN-based network programmability, and current network orchestration technologies. The basics of SDN and NFV and associated issues, challenges, technological advancements along with advantages and risks of shifting networking paradigm towards SDN are also discussed. Detailed exercises within the book and corresponding solutions are available online as accompanying supplementary material.
