Do extreme, unethical governmental policies often produce results opposite to those intended? This book considers the ironic outcomes of recent global events and concludes that there is a 'rule of reverse results' at work. While not a hard and fast law, the rule points out the increased probability that a policy will backfire if it is immoral while ethical policies, even if extreme, are unlikely to produce reverse results. The issue here is that of increased likelihood but not of certainty. Governments can never be sure as to the effects of their actions: to some extent they are always working in the dark. But if the motivation is right, moral and humane the policies will not often produce adverse results the opposite of those intended. Based on events in global history in the Twentieth and Twenty-First centuries the chapters can each be read individually, as well as being part of the argument.

Forgiveness is important in international politics because it can save thousands of lives. Its opposite, vengefulness, has played a significant part in various wars of the 20th and 21st centuries. These conflicts are examined in this book, showing how forgiveness could have avoided the tremendous ensuing bloodshed. Despite its importance, in the context of international relations, forgiveness as a means of preventing the outbreak of war (as opposed to facilitating reconciliation after conflicts) has largely been neglected as a subject of study. Indeed, it has also been ignored by politicians, as a result of which there are few examples of forgiveness to study compared with those of revenge. This book reflects this reality, but also seeks to change it by raising public awareness of the importance of forgiveness in international affairs and the need to demand that political leaders explore this avenue. Audrey Wilson was born in England and grew up in the twenties in the country and London when milk was still delivered in bottles by pony and cart. She was bombed out in the Blitz of l940 and spent four months in a public shelter. She joined the Womens Royal Naval Service, W.R N.S., and, after training as a radio technician, was assigned to MI-5 to listen to German U-boat communications. After the invasion in l944 she was sent to London to translate captured German documents at the time of the V1 and V2 rocket bombs. After the war she married an American musician who taught piano at FSU Music School. Audreys husband died young and she was left with three young boys and no college education. She took her B.A in English Summa cum Laude at Florida State University 1968, M.A. 1969, and Ph.D. in Humanities in 72. She taught Humanities from 1969 through 1997 at FSU. She taught at the Florence Center for six months in 1980. She also accompanied student groups on several occasions to Europe, teaching Art History.

What he created in spirit must come forth in the flesh with his image and likeness. We must know in our heart that we are an offspring, a portion of the original. Jesus has been blowing the sound of our jubilee since he rose from the grave. He is waiting for us to hear this sound and enter into his rest. We have the ability today to know the power of his resurrection while in our natural body. The Book of Revelation tells us how. God is looking for His sons He created in the beginning to take dominion and authority. The Book of Revelation reveals Christ in us who must be manifested as His body with Jesus as the head. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” was he just making a way for personal salvation with God, or was there a bigger picture? John 14:12 says, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” For over 2000 years the body of Christ has been liken to kings and lords hiding in a cave waiting for a someday when they get to heaven to receive their inheritance as a son of God. When Jesus died he gave us the ram's horn, the shofar, to declare that our JUBILEE is here NOW for us to receive. The Book of Revelation teaches us how to hear the sound of this horn, the voice of the Father, which brings hope and challenge for us to open the doors to our true identity as a “son” of God. It will set us free from the captivity and bondages in our lives as we find out that as He is, so are we today in this world with His power and His authority.
The word “rapture” has been used in the church vernacular as an experience of escapism departure from the earth while God is destroying his creation. It has been the scare tactic used to receiving Jesus as one’s personal savior. The truth is meant to be a love experience of God’s presence that removes all doubt and fear. It is an experience of oneness as a marriage between two people because of their unconditional love for one another (John 3:16). It is an experience of now while in our natural body. It is a marriage to Jesus as the head of Christ and the church as the bride of many members, joined in oneness as Christ all in all. It is a consuming life of love and light in the earth, ruling and reigning together with Jesus Christ as one body.

Since passage of the of No Child Left Behind Act in 2001, academic researchers, econometricians, and statisticians have been exploring various analytical methods of documenting students‘ academic progress over time. Known as value-added models (VAMs), these methods are meant to measure the value a teacher or school adds to student learning from one year to the next. To date, however, there is very little evidence to support the trustworthiness of these models. What is becoming increasingly evident, yet often ignored mainly by policymakers, is that VAMs are 1) unreliable, 2) invalid, 3) nontransparent, 4) unfair, 5) fraught with measurement errors and 6) being inappropriately used to make consequential decisions regarding such things as teacher pay, retention, and termination. Unfortunately, their unintended consequences are not fully recognized at this point either. Given such, the timeliness of this well-researched and thoughtful book cannot be overstated. This book sheds important light on the debate surrounding VAMs and thereby offers states and practitioners a highly important resource from which they can move forward in more research-based ways.
The Archaeology of Martin's Hundred explores the history and artifacts of a 20,000-acre tract of land in Tidewater, Virginia, one of the most extensive English enterprises in the New World. Settled in 1618, all signs of its early occupation soon disappeared, leaving no trace above ground. More than three centuries later, archaeological explorations uncovered tantalizing evidence of the people who had lived, worked, and died there in the seventeenth century. Part I: Interpretive Studies addresses four critical questions, each with complex and sometimes unsatisfactory answers: Who was Martin? What was a hundred? When did it begin and end? Where was it located? We then see how scientific detective work resulted in a reconstruction of what daily life must have been like in the strange and dangerous new land of colonial Virginia. The authors use first-person accounts, documents of all sorts, and the treasure trove of artifacts carefully unearthed from the soil of Martin's Hundred. Part II: Artifact Catalog illustrates and describes the principal artifacts in 110 figures. The objects, divided by category and by site, range from ceramics, which were the most readily and reliably datable, to glass, of which there was little, to metalwork, in all its varied aspects from arms and armor to rail splitters' wedges, and, finally, to tobacco pipes. The Archaeology of Martin's Hundred is a fascinating account of the ways archaeological fieldwork, laboratory examination, and analysis based on lifelong study of documentary and artifact research came together to increase our knowledge of early colonial history.
