The nine chapters of the book deal with specific aspects of the Indian constitutional tradition as it has evolved across seven decades of India's existence as an independent nation. Beginning with the pre-history of the Constitution and its making, the book moves onto an examination of the structural features and actual operation of the Constitution's principal governance institutions. These include the executive and the parliament, the institutions of federalism and local government, and the judiciary. Perhaps the fierest debate on the Indus civilization is over the reasons for the end of the India’s earliest cities. Did they dramatically collapsed or was there steady urban decline? Was the decline a result of in roads by the Aryans or did rivers, earthquakes, or climatic shifts contribute to the disintegration? Was the end marked by a cultural fracture or regional migrations from the core areas to the areas which offered better subsistence possibilities? The recent studies do not accept the Aryan invasion theory or the inundation theory or the tectonic upliftment concept as it is not warranted by any scientific or rationale evidences. It seems likely that the decline of the Harappan civilization was mainly due to ecological imbalances. The delicate ecological balances of semi-arid areas (Harappa and Mohenjodaro) was being disturbed because the human and cattle populations in these areas was fast depleting the scanty forest, food and fuel resources. Thus, the growing populations of men and animals confronted by scanty resources wore out the landscape. This depletion of the subsistence base caused strain on the entire economy. Moreover, the drift of the monsoon to the west necessitated the Harappan people to migrate to the areas of Gujarat, Haryana which provided better survival possibilities.

India has a rich tradition of learning and education from the time immemorial. These were handed over generation to generation either through oral or written media. The basic characteristics of Ancient or Hindu civilization is that it has been moulded and shaped the course of its history more by religious than by political or economic influences. The Early Educational System in India was based on the conception of Brahmacharya, which laid greater emphasis on carya than mere learning. The system was established on the tie of constant association between the teacher and the taught. The Sanskrit word for pupil was antevasin, while acarya stood for the preceptor. A student was known by the word Brahmachari. The religious student belonging to the caste of Brahmana, Kshatriya or Vaisya was known by the term Varni. As a pupil, he was known as Chatra because his duty was always to be at his teacher's service and to protect him from any harm just like an umbrella. The antevasin was to lead the life of a regular Brahmacharin in the house of his teacher. Special hostels for female students had also come into existence known as Chatrisala i.e., Lady's Hostel.

Here the author establishes the importance of lipid assay and it covers some of the research based on lipids in Normolipidemic AMI patients, AIDS patients and also multicenter studies. It was once believed that if one is Normolipidemic than the risk of AMI is lowered but the trends of Hyperlipidemia always associated with AMI have changed. In this book the author shares his experience working with Normolipidemic AMI patients. The research is based on stratification of risk factors in these patients, where the author approaches to elucidate the various risk factors associated with Normolipidemic AMI patients. This book would create an awareness amongst commoners and individuals who considers themselves safe if their lipid profiles are well within normal reference range. The author discusses various risk factors which must be incorporated in routine investigations along with lipid profile as it correlates better about the prognosis of coronary artery disease. The author also shares his experience about these risk variables and the take away home message from this study emphasizes on determination of other risk variables associated with the silent killer. It should be mandatory to analyze these risk variables in appropriate time so that the heavy cost burdened by the patients in Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) could be minimized. The subjects can also lead a healthy life style if heart attack is averted much before just by some few more investigations.

Indian agriculture has witnessed spectacular advances in agricultural production in the last few decades. This was possible through green revolution in mid 60s leading to the country’s remarkable achievement in food grains and edible oil production. Efforts are needed to provide good quality certify seeds to farmers. In recent years the awareness for seed health has increased among the growers, traders, and consumers. In post-GATT era and with emergence of WTO, seed health has assumed the global concern. Infection of seed borne pathogens results into seed rots, seedling decay, pre and post emergence mortality, distortion, discoloration, reduced seed size and shrivelledness of seeds. Their study and identification is primarily required to achieve satisfactory control. The book will be of great help to students, researchers, and people engaged in seed production activities. In this book, information about different seed borne diseases is presented in 20 chapters. There is an urgent need to find out effective, alternative methods of diseases control, which are less harmful to human beings and environment. There are chapters dealing with botanical pesticides and quarantine regulations. A chapter describes molecular aspects involved in seed borne diseases. The contents are divided into two parts (I) Seed borne diseases and (II) Wilt and foliar diseases and their control methods. Ecofriendly measures to control seed borne diseases are dealt in detail.
