This is an account of the ordinary working people of Holland in the seventeenth-century, the so-called 'golden age'.

Translated by Herbert Donald Morton The central theme of this history is the Free University as a private institution founded to provide Christian higher education. At its founding in 1880, the Vrije University had only five professors and five students. Among the other public universities, it struck an odd figure and seemed destined for failure. Yet founder Abraham Kuyper never wavered in his determination to build a special Reformed, Calvinist university. Arie van Deursen here recounts the engrossing history of this unique university in its 125th year, using fully documented archival sources to detail the school's ups and downs over the years.

Language prototyping provides a means to generate language implementations automatically from high-level language definitions. This volume presents an algebraic specification approach to language prototyping, and is centered around the ASF+SDF formalism and Meta-Environment. The volume is an integrated collection of articles covering a number of case studies, and includes several chapters proposing new techniques for deriving advanced language implementations. The accompanying software is freely available.

COVID-19 has disrupted the lives of people with disabilities during the pandemic. This, in addition to the ratification of the United Nation's Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in most of the countries, created a need for this book. Policies that mandate stay-at-home and lockdown orders had an unprecedented global impact on the social inclusion and well-being of people around the world, particularly people with disabilities. The book discusses this and examines whether developed and low-middle income countries have been offered social and digital inclusive policies to this important population.
