Pneumonia is a debilitating disease, and can also be a very serious complication of pre-existing lung conditions. Combined with influenza (a predisposing factor) it is the eighth leading cause of death in the United States, such there is a need for physicians to prevent pneumonia by vaccination and hygiene methods, as well as recognizing and treating early.
