She betrayed him once … now it’s his turn to pay her back in kind. Sizzling desire and old betrayals meet in a conflagration in the Australian wilderness when a transplanted Texas cattleman’s old love walks into a trap he’s set just for her. Tad Jackson is a rugged Texan with a raw sensuality as untamed as the Australian wilderness he now rules. But his outback kingdom is under assault from an unseen enemy, and his wife and beloved daughter are missing, feared dead. He’s lost what’s most important, now he’s about to lose the rest. And it all began with his betrayal by the one woman he wanted above all others. Years ago, Tad fell desperately in love with beautiful Jessica, but on his honeymoon he discovered that she'd set him up - he'd married her identical twin sister! Now Tad is widowed, and when he learns Jess has his niece, he has Jess right where he wants her—in his power. Dr. Jessica Bancroft gave Tad up for her twin sister, believing it a noble self-sacrifice. Now she wants to raise her niece and keep her safe from the war zone that is Tad’s cattle station, but Tad refuses to give up his beloved child. To stay involved in her life, Jess must return home to the outback with them. She’ll do anything for her niece, and maybe for Tad – but can she trust him? Long-ago passion still smolders between them, and when it finally flares out of control, will either of them survive the flames? Reviews WILDERNESS CHILD (Book 4) What a terrific story! The dialogue is fast-paced and snappy, the storyline is exciting, the characterization is great and the love scenes singe the pages. — KW Rendezvous
“As gripping as a thriller and accessible for people without any scientific education,” wrote the biggest Swedish broadsheet, Dagens Nyheter, when My Sweet Heart was released in 2012. The book has been fundamental in the rise of the low-carb movement in Sweden, where the debate surrounding low-fat diets has been raging for almost a decade. Inspired by a woman with type 2 diabetes who, using a strict low-carb diet, was able to stop taking insulin injections and lost 42 kilos in weight, science writer Ann Fernholm, PhD in Molecular Biotechnology, started to examine the science behind low-fat dietary advice. Why should people who need injections to reduce blood sugar fill their plates with carbohydrates that raise blood sugar levels? Like a mystery writer she unravels the story of how, in the mid-1900s, research took a wrong turn. Piece by piece, she also puts together the puzzle surrounding ill health. Why are abdominal fat and type 2 diabetes so dangerous? Why do they increase the risk of heart disease, cancer and dementia? What she discovers is that high blood sugar and high insulin levels are real villains in many major public health problems. Readers appreciate Ann Fernholm for her factual depth, at the same time as she has a unique ability to describe science in an understandable, lively manner. My Sweet Heart has received unanimously good reviews in Sweden and has been a turning point in many people’s lives.

A Free Woman On God's Earth" The True Story of Elizabeth "Mumbet" Freeman, The Slave Who Won Her Freedom is the inspiring story of Mumbet, an enslaved African woman who lived in Sheffield, Massachusetts during Revolutionary War times. Owned by John and Hannah Ashley, Mumbet served eleven patriots as they wrote impassioned letters to King George demanding freedom from the British. Mumbet could not help but overhear their conversations. These Declaration of Grievances became the Sheffield Resolves, or the Sheffield Declaration, the precursor to the Declaration of Independence and the irony of the sentiments in this document was not lost on Mumbet. After a particularly brutal incident, where Mistress Hannah Ashley intends to strike a servant girl with a hot poker from the hearth, Mumbet puts her own arm up to block the blow and is burned to the bone. When she finally heals, she realizes she can no longer live enslaved and waits for the right moment. The moment comes in 1780 with the ratification of the Massachusetts Constitution, making into the law the words, "All men are created free and equal." Mumbet takes these words and used them to sue for her freedom. On August 21, 1781, she becomes a free woman.
Cameos are “brief writings that bring into delicate or sharp focus the character of a specific person, place, or event.” In her latest book, Barbara Ann Hillman Jones does just that from her own personal experiences. Her cameos are real—she writes about real people, real places, and real happenings. Most of them are centered around her Swedish heritage and of growing up in the predominantly Swedish community of Jamestown, New York. Barbara’s cameos are inspiring and uplifting, and her hope is that the book will bring happy memories and warm feelings to each reader.

This book is a result of three and a half years of weekly columns in the Newark (Ohio) Advocate many years ago. It was very well received, and I often got comments from people I came across about a certain article that was helpful. I simply wrote about the things I did, learned, and failed at over that time. Gardening can be funny, you will learn in this book. My husband was a major asset in gardening and in providing funny situations, but I think he liked getting hit in the head often. As for content, the articles follow the seasons of Ohio which came as I wrote them, but my sense is they can be far more widely applied in other areas of the country. I hope you learn from and enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Happy gardening! Jo Ann Wiblin
