This book is a guide to endocrine surgery for practising and trainee endocrinologists. Divided into 45 chapters, the text begins with an overview of applied embryology, physiology, and surgical anatomy of the endocrine glands. The next section explains thyroid function tests and their interpretation. Each of the following chapters covers the surgical management of a different thyroid-related disorder. The final sections discuss allied topics including endocrine radiology, pathology, the role of nuclear medicine in endocrine surgery, and radiotherapy. Each chapter concludes with clinical pearls to assist learning. With an internationally recognised editor and author team, the comprehensive text is highly illustrated with photographs, radiographic images, flow charts, and diagrams.
This book details some of the major developments in the implementation of compressive sensing in radio applications for electronic defense and warfare communication use. It provides a comprehensive background to the subject and at the same time describes some novel algorithms. It also investigates application value and performance-related parameters of compressive sensing in scenarios such as direction finding, spectrum monitoring, detection, and classification.
The book covers all aspects of thyroid and parathyroid surgery, including history and examination, pre-operative workup, and how ancillary specialties like pathology, radiology, radiotherapy, and nuclear medicine impact the outcome of thyroid and parathyroid patients. It offers a step-by-step approach to help the readers manage their cases in their practice. It includes numerous color photographs, anatomical and operative line diagrams for easy understanding. Chapters include flow charts explaining the case management and the decision-making process. The book serves as a valuable resource to endocrine surgeons, general surgeons, endocrinologists, and internists. It also serves as reference material for the exit examination of masters of surgery and the super specialty entrance and exit exam for endocrine surgery. Additionally, it helps consultants and postgraduate students of radiology, pathology, nuclear medicine, and radiotherapy.
The concept of pharmaceutics, as applied in the speciality of Pharmacy, encompasses a broad spectrum of interrelated subject areas. It is generally regarded as the core discipline in Pharmacy, covering the well-defined and articulated stages to which a drug is subjected in its development into dosage forms and delivery to consumers. The book consists of all basic aspects related to pharmaceutics. In the general introduction to pharmaceutics, the book contains the history of pharmacy, the development of pharmacy, different dosage forms, prescriptions, how to calculate the dose, and factors affecting doses. The book covers various concepts of weighing and measuring, pharmaceutical calculation, pharmaceutical powders or mixtures, and liquid dosage forms intended for internal and external use. It also explains how to prepare monophasic and biphasic liquid formulations and suppositories. Additionally, it helps in understanding the different excipients used in semisolid formulations, the mechanisms associated with them, influencing factors for drug penetration, and the development of different semisolid dosage forms.
Python is a powerful, high level programming language. Python is a scripting language that is interpreted. Python programming is credited to Guido Van Rossum as its creator. Python is a dynamic, high-level, general-purpose, and interpreted programming language. It offers a large number of high-level data structures and is straightforward and simple to learn. Python is a programming language that is appealing for application development since it is simple to learn yet also strong and flexible. Since the variables are dynamically typed, we can simply write a=10 to assign an integer value to an integer variable without using data types to specify them.. Python History and Versions Late in the 1980s, Python began to take shape. Guido Van Rossum at CWI in the Netherlands began implementing Python in December 1989. It was first made available on February 20, 1991. Python Features The following list of features offered by Python: 1) Simple to Use and Learn Python is simple to use and learn. It is a high-level programming language that is user-friendly to developers.
The Gang of Six were clinching their fists under the 21-seater oval teak table in the PMO in New Delhi. How could their Prime Minister speak to them like that? How does the Constitution of India allow such people, with just 35 seats out of 543 in the Lok Sabha, to become the PM? The Indian PM’s aircraft took off from Islamabad Airport at 7:45 am IST and was scheduled to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi at 9:10 am IST. When the aircraft started deviating from its scheduled route, there was panic at the IGIA air traffic control tower. By 9:15 am IST, the aircraft was seen heading south, when it became out of range of the radars at IGIA. Had the PM’s aircraft been hijacked? Was it headed to Sri Lanka or the Maldives? The defence minister, external affairs minister and the NSA had accompanied the PM to Islamabad. In their absence, the best men to contact the Indian Air Force Chief were the cabinet secretary or the defence secretary. Both men tried to get hold of him, but to no avail. He was not answering his office or mobile phone. They tried the Vice Chief and got no response either. What in hell was going on? By 9:45 am IST, Indian Army soldiers in battle gear began arriving in army trucks at North and South Block, and at various other ministry buildings spread across Lutyens’ Delhi. Hundreds of soldiers also arrived at the residences of the union ministers in the 28.7 km2 Lutyens Bungalow Zone. At 9:45 pm Pakistan Time, about five hours after the Indian generals had finished the press conference in New Delhi and about two hours after millions had started demonstrating on roads across fifty-plus Indian cities, Prime Minister Irfan Khan chaired a meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Council. A plan of action was framed.
The relationship between science and politics is a complex and vulnerable. This is interdependence. The out come of international environmental governance rely broadly upon the inputs originated in science and research. The science-politics interface engages itself indirectly in policy making processes. Science produces knowledge which helps politics in taking right decisions. Research based findings and investigations play creative character in inputs of environmental governance. Effectiveness of environmental regimes made with usable knowledge intends state policies in achieving goals of improving quality of environmental conditions. A better approach for international environmental governance may be had from better science – politics interface. It discusses how the science and politics together can provide the sustainable environmental institutions and regimes; it also suggests various new mechanisms and innovative scientific solutions to strengthen the environmental governance which affects not only the life of human beings but the whole earth. The content of this book is a good amalgam of science and politics which decides the policies which are responsible for the conservation of environment. The motive of this book is to assist environmental scientists, researchers and policymakers to address and manage environmental problems in improved way and with better understandings.
In the past decade, a lot of research has gone into Speech Emotion Recognition. The primary objective of Speech Emotion Recognition is to improve man-machine interface. It can also be used to monitor the psycho physiological state of a person in lie detectors. In recent time, speech emotion recognition also finds its applications in medicine and forensics. It can also be used to recognize different emotions like sad, happy, angry etc. Basically, it can be used to detect positive and negative emotions. This book mainly focuses on Emotion detection using Raspberry Pi 3 to recognize the emotions through speech. It can also be implemented using complete software that is MATLAB. As per literature survey done, Raspberry Pi 3 has been used in past for emotion detection from facial expression but no work had been done on this processor for emotion detection from speech. Raspberry Pi 3 has many advantages and features and is basically used by programming it in Python. This book mainly focuses on comparing the implementation through hardware and software. The easiest way to compare is through recognition efficiency. In this book, we achieved recognition efficiency of 100 % for emotions such as Happy, Sad and Angry.
This book gives a complete description of the topic that provides solutions for classroom projectors. After one year of complete dedication and hard work we designed a system and named it “Smart Classroom with Intelligent Projector”. The project mentioned in this book will help the teacher present in the classroom to allow them to control the classroom and projector using an android application in the Android smartphone. We are publishing this book so that others should also get help and Implement such a system in their College and Institutes.
