But this name is actually political, because in reality Moro consists of many ethno linguistic groups, for example Maranow, Maquindanau, Tausuq, Somal, Yakan, Ira Nun, Jamampun, Badjao, Kalibugan, Kalagan and Sangil. In connection with actions of terorrism, the international communities have articulated and done about confronting threats directly, engaging the enemy, disrupting terrorist networks, denying enemies safe haven, building international coalitions, forging treaties that reinforce the rule of law, denying the enemy weapons of mass destruction, and changing the conditions that terrorists exploit.

There has been a lack of reliable academic studies regarding Filipino martial arts (FMA) that have uniquely developed in the Philippine archipelago. This anthology assembles pioneering scholarly materials valuable for any interested in the Filipino combatives, as well as chapters specifically on the practice. Mark Wiley stands out as a leading scholar/practitioner of the Filipino arts. This book contains three chapters by him. In the first, he conducted linguistic and historical research to present the developmental background of the ancient Filipino kali and European fencing systems, thus illuminating the evolution of classical eskrima. In chapter two, Wiley attempts to classify Filipino martial arts and explore the ethos of Filipino martial culture by deriving information directly from the contemporary grandmasters who have maintained an oral transmission of information concerning the evolution and development of their respective martial systems. Part of Wiley’s research also led him to seek out special repositories of artifacts. Museums collections rarely include much on Southeast Asian weapons. University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology has nearly 1,000 martial artifacts in storerooms from the Philippines, including swords, knives, spears, shields, helmets, and armor discussed in Wiley’s third chapter. On a practical side, Steven Dowd presents the art of Carlita Lañada who studied martial arts as passed down within his own family in the Philippines. He calls his rendition Kuntaw Lima-Lima, an art whose techniques are reminiscent of Okinawan karate styles, with hints of Chinese gongfu. Presented are the underlying principles, and a sayawan (form) with applications. Majia Soderholm’s chapter is about Visayan Corto Kadena Eskrima and some of its concepts and training methods with regard to free-sparring with swords. It is a Filipino martial system encompassing empty-hand and non-bladed and bladed weapons. Peter Hobart presents a wonderful tribute to Remy Presas, the founder of Modern Arnis. This retrospective is comprised of the stories and memories of many of those who knew him. Topics include Presas’ theory and practice of arnis, such as importance of flow, and memories of his last seminar. The chapter by Ruel Macaraeg dives into the topic of piracy in the Philippines. His study reconstructs the pirates’ martial practices through comparative historical analysis of their weapons, costume, and organization in order to draw conclusions about their relationship to martial cultures in the Philippines and across the region. In the final chapter, Ken Smith discusses a few of his favorite techniques from Modern Arnis. His insights—as well as the information found in the previous chapters—contribute to the academic understanding of Filipino martial traditions as well as the actual practice of kali, escrima, and arnis. Through EduChange, we wanted to transform field courses into innovative, creative learning environments in which teachers, students and pupils can create knowledge together. We believe that supporting innovation and creativity can be achieved via international partnerships and inter- and trans-dis- ciplinary approaches. The sources of the Papua conflict are grouped into four sets of issues. First, is the problem of the marginalization of indigenous Papuans, and the discriminatory impacts on them resulting from the economic development of, political conflicts in, and mass migrations to Papua since 1970. To respond to this problem, an affirmative policy of recognition must be developed to empower indigenous Papuans. The second issue is the failure of development, particularly in the fields of education, health, and people's economic empowerment. This requires a new paradigm of development, focused on improving public services for the welfare of indigenous Papuans in the villages. The third main problem is the contradictions that exist between Papuan and Jakartan constructions of political identity and history. This problem can only be settled through dialogue, along the lines of the dialogue that was conducted for Aceh. The fourth issue is accountability for past state violence toward Indonesian citizens in Papua. For this, a road to reconciliation must be cleared, on which courts of human rights and the disclosure of the truth are the means of choice for law and justice to be upheld in Papua, for the victims and their families in particular, and all Indonesian citizens of Papua in general. The above four issues and agendas can be woven together to form a mutually interrelated policy strategy for comprehensive long-term resolution of the Papuan conflict. The atmosphere of Reformasi, and the existence of the accommodative Law No. 21/2001 on Special Autonomy (UU Otsus), a responsive central government, as well as the very large size of Papua's budget, lead the LIPI team to have faith that the problems of Papua can be resolved with justice, peace and dignity.

Cerebral palsy is a broad ranging term used to define a group of no progressive disorders that affect the development of movement and posture and occurred within the developing fetal or infant brain. Its etiologies are extensive and it remains the most prevalent chronic childhood motor disability. In addition to impairments in fine and gross motor function, affected individuals may have problems with cognition, epilepsy, vision, speech and language, psychological issues, swallowing, bowel/bladder dysfunction, and orthopedic deformities. Conventionally, CP has been sub classified based on its predominant motor disability (spastic, dyskinetic, ataxic), but it is essential to recognize that other neurogenetic disorders can impersonate each of these categories. This chapter also reviews the diagnostic evaluation, assessment scales, and management of Cerebral Palsy.

This framework is built on top of cognitive nodes, capable of knowledge representation, learning, and reasoning, along with an information-centric approach for data delivery. It also discusses the most appropriate deployment strategy for these cognitive nodes under realistic assumptions that cares about the Quality of Information (QoI). In addition, it uses a QoI aware data delivery strategy, with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as the reasoning technique to identify data delivery paths that dynamically adapt to changing network conditions and user requirements.

Total joint replacement (TJR) is one of the success stories of modern medicine, which has reliably provided dramatic pain relief and improved the quality of life for several million patients with a destructive end-stage joint disease. However, the main long-term complication of TJR surgery is prosthetic loosening, often combined with osteolysis following wear, corrosion and failure of the implant. Over the past decade, the biological interactions between various types of wear particles and metal ions from metal-on-polyethylene (MoPE), metal-on-metal (MoM) and ceramic-on-ceramic (CoC) implants, endogenous danger signals (alarmins) and/or bacterial components of the microbiome with the innate and adaptive host defence (immune) system, have become better known. In this chapter, we discuss the role of biomaterials and implant-derived wear and corrosion debris in loosening of TJRs, with particular emphasis on MoM total hip replacements (THR) and hip resurfacing arthroplasty (HRA).

Paul Bear"" Bryant was arguably the greatest football coach in the history of college football. Beloved by fans of the Alabama Crimson Tide, by the time he retired from coaching following the 1982 season, his teams had won 323 games, a feat unmatched by any coach in college football history. Before arriving in Tuscaloosa, he had coached at Maryland, Kentucky, and Texas A&M; his teams at Alabama won six national championships and thirteen Southeastern Conference titles. On July 17, 1981, Coach Bryant sat in his office at Memorial Coliseum reminiscing with sports columnist Al Browning of the Tuscaloosa News. Contemplating the twilight of his career, he calmly said, ""They'll forget me as soon as I croak and am buried"". When Browning objected, Coach smiled slightly and said, ""No, that's the way it is. Life moves on, and people find interest in other things"". While Bryant's memory may have faded slightly, he certainly has not been forgotten, and I Remember Paul ""Bear"" Bryant is a glowing testimony to the love that those who knew him best continue to have for him to this day.
