This book is a collection of articles written for Professor Marta Gibińska by her colleagues and friends, from universities both in Poland and abroad. The texts presented in this volume cover a wide spectrum of topics. Part I, devoted to Shakespeare, comprises wide-ranging work from renowned specialists in the field: studies on historical background, sources, theatrical, screen and literary reception, as well as translation. Part II contains articles which deal with multiple authors, genres and perspectives, but are uniformly passionate and insightful. The title Eyes to Wonder, Tongue to Praise, a poetic phrase borrowed from Shakespeare, conveys what seems to be a defining quality of both the contributors to this volume and its recipient: namely, the ability to translate keen appreciation of literature not into speechless awe but eloquent praise, combined with the generosity to share it with others.
The growing importance of projects in organizations, combined with difficulties in their implementation, is accompanied by the need for professional knowledge in the field of project management. It results from the complexity of project management problems and the difficulty of knowledge that must be applied. However, surprisingly little is known about this topic, especially in the context of European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Project Management in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises: A European Perspective attempts to fill this specific research gap. The book analyses the process of managing projects being implemented by small and medium-sized firms from Europe, identifies organizational processes, and verifies which elements of these processes require improvement. Strategies of enterprises evolve with the development of strategic management theory and new concepts, models, and outlooks that emerge with it. The concept of ambidexterity is a relatively new approach to business development strategies, which involves simultaneous exploration and exploitation activities to ensure the success of the company and a relatively sustainable competitive advantage. This begs the question as to whether the ambidextrous strategy is the right choice for all enterprises, and if not, what determines its choice. This book identifies and systematizes antecedents for choosing ambidextrous strategy, including factors related to the uncertainty of the environment, its dynamics, complexity, and unpredictability, intra-organizational factors, those related to resources, organizational structure, and behavioral context, as well as those related to strategic leadership. It examines the outcomes of implementing ambidexterity from the perspective of financial and market performance and assesses the choices of companies operating in Poland from the perspective of the impact that particular antecedents had and the outcomes achieved, providing knowledge and guidance on the circumstances in which choosing the ambidextrous strategy brings the best results. The book presents the research findings to date, the cognitive gaps that still exist, and the directions for further research. It develops a definition and theoretical internal structure of the notion of organizational reliability as well as a theoretical background describing the structure of its three pillars, and it showcases a set of organizational solutions dedicated for the enhancement of organizational reliability.
