Bone Marrow Processing and Purging: A Practical Guide provides an up-to-date practical guide to the major ex vivo procedures associated with bone marrow transplantation. Previously, this information was communicated primarily by word of mouth; now experts in the field present detailed descriptions and evaluations of methods for marrow harvesting, evaluation (including tumor infiltration, flow cytometric analysis, and colony assays), comparative methods for automated nucleated cell separation and enumeration, tumor cell purging, T cell depletion, stem cell selection, gene transfer, and cytopreservation. Special sections address quality control and FDA regulations. The book provides a unique information source intended for clinicians, researchers, technical staff, transplant nurses, and medical students involved in this rapidly expanding area of medicine.
A concise overview of the neuropsychology of psychopathy, written in layman's terms The last two decades have seen tremendous growth in biological research on psychopathy, a mental disorder distinguished by traits including a lack of empathy or emotional response, egocentricity, impulsivity, and stimulation seeking. But how does a psychopath’s brain work? What makes a psychopath? Psychopathy provides a concise, non-technical overview of the research in the areas of genetics, hormones, brain imaging, neuropsychology, environmental influences, and more, focusing on explaining what we currently know about the biological foundations for this disorder and offering insights into prediction, intervention, and prevention. It also offers a nuanced discussion of the ethical and legal implications associated with biological research on psychopathy. How much of this disorder is biologically based? Should offenders with psychopathic traits be punished for their crimes if we can show that biological factors contribute? The text clearly assesses the conclusions that can and cannot be drawn from existing biological research, and highlights the pressing considerations this research demands.
The great expansion of economic activity since the end of World War II has caused an unprecedented rise in living standards, but it has also caused rapid changes in earth systems. Nearly all types of natural capital—the world’s stock of resources and services provided by nature—are in decline. Clean air, abundant and clean water, fertile soils, productive fisheries, dense forests, and healthy oceans are critical for healthy lives and healthy economies. Mounting pressures, however, suggest that the trend of declining natural capital may cast a long shadow into the future. Nature’s Frontiers: Achieving Sustainability, Efficiency, and Prosperity with Natural Capital presents a novel approach to address these foundational challenges of sustainability. A methodology combining innovative science, new data sources, and cutting-edge biophysical and economic models builds sustainable resource efficiency frontiers to assess how countries can sustainably use their natural capital more efficiently. The analysis provides recommendations on how countries can better use their natural capital to achieve their economic and environ mental goals. The report indicates that significant efficiency gaps exist in nearly every country. Closing these gaps can address many of the world’s pressing economic and environmental problems—economic productivity, health, food and water security, and climate change. Although the approach outlined in this report will entail demanding policy reforms, the costs of inaction will be far higher.

From May 2005 the Our Ultimate Reality Newsletter has been published continuously almost every Sunday. During that time the number of readers of the weekly newsletter has increased exponentially, until today they are read by hundreds of thousands of people around the World, representing many and diverse countries, traditions and cultures. Each week thousands more people subscribe to receive the newsletter, frequently having been referred by existing readers who wish to share the knowledge with those they love and care about. It is inevitable therefore that numerous requests are received for newsletter back issues. Between May 2005 and December 2007 alone there have been 127 individual newsletters published, comprising nearly 1000 pages including 171 separate, unique subjects encompassing a wide array of areas crucial to everyone, with a particular emphasis on Spiritual Growth, Metaphysics and Self Improvement. It has proved to be impractical therefore to provide back issues for all who request them, much though it would be desirable to do so. The solution therefore is to publish all of the newsletter back issues in the form of a series of volumes, each volume including all newsletters published for an entire year. The newsletters included in each of these volumes are exactly as they were originally published and sent to subscribers by email, and have not been additionally modified, proof read or copy edited in any way, that you can enjoy each subject exactly as it was originally published, with everything retained in its original context. A new newsletter volume will be created for each year of publication. If you do not yet subscribe to the Our Ultimate Reality Newsletter, and wish to receive newsletters every Sunday as soon as they are published, you may do so from the home page of the site. http: //www.ourultimatereality.com
