Poornima is 24, fun-loving and vivacious. She wants to make it big in the corporate world, be a successful professional, and then marry a person of her choice on her own terms and conditions. Things however go haywire when she realises that despite being an adult, she hardly has a say in the matters related to her marriage. No matter how much she protests, she has to listen to her parents and meet the guys shortlisted by them before she crosses the right age for marriage. Her dream of falling in love and then marrying seems to remain only a dream as she is expected to marry and then fall in love with her husband. No matter how much she hates it, she has to give into her parents wishes and agree to meeting the prospective grooms. Her unique and at times humorous experience with each prospective groom leaves her wondering about her future will she ever meet a right, if not a perfect husband? Add to it the dilemma of making the choice in just one meeting. After all, how is it possible to understand him, his family, his lifestyle in an hour or two and be sure not to make mistakes? The story tracks her meetings, her experiences during this arranging of marriage and how all of this transforms her thought process. It is her journey from being a stubborn girl to a sensible woman, from a happy single to a desperate-to-get-married person, from a romantic and dreamy individual to a pragmatic self; only to discover that arranged marriage isnt a bad idea and love just happens, irrespective of age, success and terms and conditions.
: The book extensively navigates the complex realm of Aadhaar, India's biometric identification system, tracing its evolution from inception to the contemporary landscape. After identifying the misconceptions attached to the figure of the Mughal Courtesan and then defining it in terms of the dual-component structure of adaa, in the face of a dearth of literature that exists on the culture and the agency of the courtesan, this analysis would reinterpret the status of the courtesan figure within the domain of feminist theories and self-assertion. The female desire for autonomy, according to Elaine Showalter, defines a female exclusivity in terms of the dynamic phase, which is a combination of the feminine conflict between self-fulfillment and duty, the feminist political consciousness, and the female desire for autonomy. If one operates the courtesan figure in the Showalter domain, then the means to resist gender hierarchies through literary practices lie in a combination of both demand for exclusivity and real struggle into a truly subversive aesthetic which would have allowed the courtesan to have walked the corridors of power. Juliet Mitchells argument states that the gendered treatment of women came into existence through the ideological form of the novel, with females constructing themselves as the women they are under bourgeois norms by reading and writing novels. Rereading the Silencing of the Sirens would uncover another such exclusive female tradition studying the female consciousness from the courtesans point of view.

By examining factors contributing to domestic violence, the impact on victims, their views on service agencies, and the challenges faced by these agencies, the research offers a comprehensive look at this critical issue. Data was gathered from the respondents receiving help from three key organizations: DLCCIW, Sakhi One Stop Centre (SOSC), and Swadhar Greh Home. Through both qualitative and quantitative methods, the study highlights the severe effects of physical and emotional abuse on victims' lives and family dynamics. While most respondents were satisfied with the services provided, the study identifies areas for improvement and underscores the need for increased awareness and better service delivery. It also suggests future research to include the experiences of male perpetrators to gain a fuller understanding of domestic violence.
