It is born someday and somewhere with many of its like. When it was brought to the outer world, it was appreciated with many a warm touch of people. It was considered to be a prized possession to them, especially the children. And during so much of financial dealings, there develops a warm bond between it and the human society. Bachelor Thesis from the year 2016 in the subject Medicine - Dentistry, grade: A, Seema Dental College & Hospital (Rishikesh), course: MDS, language: English, abstract: Dental caries is a multifactorial disease that has many contributing factors, including biological, genetic, socioeconomic, cultural, and environmental issues. It’s the localized destruction of susceptible dental hard tissue by acidic by-products from bacterial fermentation of dietary carbohydrates. Dental caries is the main reason for placement and replacement of restorations. The demineralization process occurs because of high consumption of sugary and/or starchy foods and sugared beverages, combined with insufficient fluoride exposure, inappropriate oral hygiene, and/or poor salivary flow. The replacement of restorations can result in cavity preparations larger than the predecessors, which leads to weakening of the remaining tooth structure. The longevity of a restoration is attributed to the restorative material properties, the technical quality of the restorative procedure and the patient’s compliance with appropriate maintenance of their oral hygiene. The minimal intervention paradigm emphasizes use of adhesive restorative materials in order to minimize the size of cavity preparation. This new medical model, known as Minimally Invasive Dentistry (MID), is a conservative philosophy that reduces restorative procedure time, pain and stress, and results in decreased patient anxiety. MID emphasizes that initial caries lesions in the enamel can be repaired by increasing the amounts of calcium, phosphate and fluoride in the saliva. Also, when a lesion needs to be restored, MID emphasizes adhesive restorative techniques, which allow removal of the decay in a way that involves minimal loss of healthy tooth structure. The term “minimal intervention” was endorsed by the Federation Dentaire Internationale in a 2002 policy statement and is globally recognized.

It is an ethnographic study that looks closely at women from the upper and middle classes who work with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that help empower women from all classes of society. Unlike many studies that focus on grassroots women who are the beneficiaries of NGO and developmental projects, this book looks at those women who, as volunteers and activists, help carry out these projects to the best of their abilities. These women are often overlooked from mainstream studies on women in developing nations. But their role is invaluable and crucial in defining the agendas and strategies used to enhance feminist consciousness and developing organizational structures. This book is significant because it offers awareness and alternative views to the challenges (and motivations) faced by middle and upper-class women volunteers and activists in building a career in the non-profit sector of NGOs in Kolkata. Through the testimonies of these women, it examines alternative processes of agency and change in order to define these challenges and motivations. Also revealed by the analysis, is useful information about the oppression and subordination of these women in contemporary gender-stratified civil society in India. But more importantly, this book examines the various ways urban, educated Indian women construct a feminist praxis in terms of their everyday lived experiences as volunteers and activists. In terms of their lived experiences, the women in this study reflect on the social challenges they encounter and motivations they experience as volunteers and activists, while also discussing their understanding of feminism and views on the image of a “feminist” in the postcolonial context. The results demonstrate the power of feminist standpoint theorizing and how it raises consciousness, empowers women and stimulates resistance to patriarchal oppression and injustices. Finally, this book produces new knowledge and research on the conception of feminism among women volunteers and activists in a non-western setting and how they construct the image of a feminist.

Whereas past books have treated these concepts within the context of specific fields such as computer graphics, computer vision or image processing, this book offers a unified view of these core concepts, thereby providing a unified treatment of computational and mathematical methods for creating, capturing, analyzing and manipulating visual data (e.g. 2D images, 3D models). Fundamentals covered in the book include convolution, Fourier transform, filters, geometric transformations, epipolar geometry, 3D reconstruction, color and the image synthesis pipeline. The book is organized in four parts. The first part provides an exposure to different kinds of visual data (e.g. 2D images, videos and 3D geometry) and the core mathematical techniques that are required for their processing (e.g. interpolation and linear regression.) The second part of the book on Image Based Visual Computing deals with several fundamental techniques to process 2D images (e.g. convolution, spectral analysis and feature detection) and corresponds to the low level retinal image processing that happens in the eye in the human visual system pathway. The next part of the book on Geometric Visual Computing deals with the fundamental techniques used to combine the geometric information from multiple eyes creating a 3D interpretation of the object and world around us (e.g. transformations, projective and epipolar geometry, and 3D reconstruction). This corresponds to the higher level processing that happens in the brain combining information from both the eyes thereby helping us to navigate through the 3D world around us. The last two parts of the book cover Radiometric Visual Computing and Visual Content Synthesis. These parts focus on the fundamental techniques for processing information arising from the interaction of light with objects around us, as well as the fundamentals of creating virtual computer generated worlds that mimic all the processing presented in the prior sections. The book is written for a 16 week long semester course and can be used for both undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as a reference for professionals.
