When Ed Entin decided to torch his draft card, everything about his life changed. He had his whole life mapped out. It was 1966 and Eddie had just been accepted into Yale Law School--his ticket out of the Army and Vietnam and into a life of secure prosperity. It took only one day, one decision to change the course of his life. What follows is a sometimes harrowing, often hilarious, and always illuminating ten-year journey through the social, political, and spiritual turmoil of the era. For anyone wondering how it was back then--or how to get through right now--Living on the Fringe provides a look at how one person waded into the turbulent waters of his time and came out whole, dry, and ready to face the future. And with a new name to match the person he had become. "Abraham Entin has written a really magnificent book...a delightful read from cover to cover. So buy it and read it--you won't be disappointed." --Ken Cloke, author, founder and director of Center for Dispute Resolution "Abraham Entin has written an outrageous, hugely entertaining memoir...about what it's like to go up against the man and come out smiling--and still fighting--on the other side." --Saul Rubinek, actor, writer, producer, and director in theater, film, and television
In 1944, the Yiddish poet Abraham Sutzkever was airlifted to Moscow from the forest where he had spent the winter among partisan fighters. There he was encouraged by Ilya Ehrenburg, the most famous Soviet Jewish writer of his day, to write a memoir of his two years in the Vilna Ghetto. Now, seventy-five years after it appeared in Yiddish in 1946, Justin Cammy provides a full English translation of one of the earliest published memoirs of the destruction of the city known throughout the Jewish world as the Jerusalem of Lithuania. Based on his own experiences, his conversations with survivors, and his consultation with materials hidden in the ghetto and recovered after the liberation of his hometown, Sutzkever’s memoir rests at the intersection of postwar Holocaust literature and history. He grappled with the responsibility to produce a document that would indict the perpetrators and provide an account of both the horrors and the resilience of Jewish life under Nazi rule. Cammy bases his translation on the two extant versions of the full text of the memoir and includes Sutzkever’s diary notes and full testimony at the Nuremberg Trials in 1946. Fascinating reminiscences of leading Soviet Yiddish cultural figures Sutzkever encountered during his time in Moscow – Ehrenburg, Yiddish modernist poet Peretz Markish, and director of the State Yiddish Theatre Shloyme Mikhoels – reveal the constraints of the political environment in which the memoir was composed. Both shocking and moving in its intensity, From the Vilna Ghetto to Nuremberg returns readers to a moment when the scale of the Holocaust was first coming into focus, through the eyes of one survivor who attempted to make sense of daily life, resistance, and death in the ghetto. The Original Bestselling Teachings of Law of Attraction You are not a body with a mind walking around in a physical universe. You are pure conscious awareness, and the physical universe is "walking around" within you. That includes what you think of as your body and your mind, as well as every other body you perceive. In this groundbreaking book by Abraham, you'll learn what happens when two people put out conflicting intentions. You'll understand how and why everything in your life comes about, and how the subjective universe only has one manifester. You. Readers of Rhonda Byrne's The Secret and Lynn Grabhorn's Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting will find this book of great importance, as it touches upon subjects only briefly hinted at in the previous books. * * * What happens when two people go after the same desire? What about when you want one thing, but your boyfriend wants another? What about children who attract negative events? Are they really responsible for it? In The Abraham Secret, readers begin exploring the deep questions and secret knowledge behind the nature of this vibrational universe, questions that were briefly hinted in the original bestselling volume, The Abraham Method. ContentsChapter 1: The Law of Attraction Chapter 2: How to Manifest Money Chapter 3: Cause-Effect vs. Intention-Manifestation Chapter 4: Take the Red Pill Chapter 5: My Reality or Yours? Chapter 6: Do Your Beliefs Reflect Reality or Create It? Chapter 7: A Dose of Caffeine for Your Consciousness Exclusive Excerpt The Law of Attraction simply says that you attract into your life whatever you think about. Your dominant thoughts will find a way to manifest. But the Law of Attraction gives rise to some tough questions that don't seem to have good answers. I would say, however, that these problems aren't caused by the Law of Attraction itself but rather by the Law of Attraction as applied to objective reality. Here are some of those problematic questions: What happens when people put out conflicting intentions, like two people intending to get the same promotion when only one position is available? Do children, babies, and/or animals put out intentions? If a child is abused, does that mean the child intended it in some way? If I intend for my relationship to improve, but my spouse doesn't seem to care, what will happen? These questions seem to weaken the plausibility of the Law of Attraction. Sometimes people answer them by going pretty far out. For example, it's been said by LoAers that a young child experiences abuse because s/he intended it or earned it during a past life. Well, sure... we can explain just about anything if we bring past lives into the equation, but IMO that's a cop-out. On the other hand, objective reality without the Law of Attraction doesn't provide satisfactory answers either - supposedly some kids are just born unlucky. That's a cop-out too. I've never been satisfied by others' answers to these questions, and they're pretty important questions if the Law of Attraction is to be believed. Some books hint at the solution but never really nail it. That nail, however, can be found in The Abraham Secret. This book goes in depth into why and how things happen to "innocent" people, and one crucial piece of evidence that validates the Law of Attraction for any non-believer.
