This book explores the complexities of Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations in contemporary Australia. It unpacks the continuation of a pervasive colonial consciousness within settler-colonial settings, but also provokes readers to confront their own habits of thought and action. Through presenting a reflexive narrative that draws on the author’s encounters with Indigenous artists and their artwork, knowledge, stories, and lived experiences, this provocative and insightful work encourages readers to consider what decolonising means to them. It presents a compelling and relevant argument that calls for a reorientation of dominant discourses fixed within Eurocentric frameworks, whilst also addressing the deep complexities and challenges of living within intercultural settler-colonial settings where different views and perspectives clash and complement one another.

`I think this is a wonderful book. The social psychological theories are exceptionally well presented for practical use. Anyone studying social psychology will find this book extremely relevant and accessible' - Gerjo Kok, Professor of Applied Psychology, Department of Work and Social Psychology, Maastricht University `This is a highly readable book dealing with an exciting topic, applied social psychology, which is at the heart of many urgent problems of the new millennium. It is well suited for curing the disease of those who still believe there is an opposition between fundamental and applied research, between theories and practice. The major asset of this volume lies in the originality and strength of the PATH concept -- from problem definition, over analysis, and test, to helping. I like the idea to implement and institutionalize this framework in teaching and in education' - Klaus Fiedler, University of Heidelberg Introducing a new methodological approach for doing applied psychology, the PATH model, this book offers a simple, systematic, step-by-step, easy-to-use methodology for applying primarily social psychological theory to a wide range of social problems, from tackling crime and prejudice to fostering environmental conservation and team performance. It helps and guides students to define a problem, conduct a theory-based analysis, develop an explanatory model, set up and execute a research project to test the model, and develop an intervention. Applying Social Psychology is a highly practical text, which can be used by introductory and advanced level students who want to learn how to analyze practical problems and develop solutions for these problems based upon social psychological theory and research. Written in an engaging and accessible way, this book offers: 1. A new methodological model put forward by the authors (PATH model); 2. Real world case studies; 3. End of chapter exercises; 4. Interviews with leading social psychologists; 5.Glossary of key theories and concepts in social psychology; 6. Recommended further reading.
The Original Bestselling Teachings of Law of Attraction You are not a body with a mind walking around in a physical universe. You are pure conscious awareness, and the physical universe is "walking around" within you. That includes what you think of as your body and your mind, as well as every other body you perceive. In this groundbreaking book by Abraham, you'll learn what happens when two people put out conflicting intentions. You'll understand how and why everything in your life comes about, and how the subjective universe only has one manifester. You. Readers of Rhonda Byrne's The Secret and Lynn Grabhorn's Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting will find this book of great importance, as it touches upon subjects only briefly hinted at in the previous books. * * * What happens when two people go after the same desire? What about when you want one thing, but your boyfriend wants another? What about children who attract negative events? Are they really responsible for it? In The Abraham Secret, readers begin exploring the deep questions and secret knowledge behind the nature of this vibrational universe, questions that were briefly hinted in the original bestselling volume, The Abraham Method. ContentsChapter 1: The Law of Attraction Chapter 2: How to Manifest Money Chapter 3: Cause-Effect vs. Intention-Manifestation Chapter 4: Take the Red Pill Chapter 5: My Reality or Yours? Chapter 6: Do Your Beliefs Reflect Reality or Create It? Chapter 7: A Dose of Caffeine for Your Consciousness Exclusive Excerpt The Law of Attraction simply says that you attract into your life whatever you think about. Your dominant thoughts will find a way to manifest. But the Law of Attraction gives rise to some tough questions that don't seem to have good answers. I would say, however, that these problems aren't caused by the Law of Attraction itself but rather by the Law of Attraction as applied to objective reality. Here are some of those problematic questions: What happens when people put out conflicting intentions, like two people intending to get the same promotion when only one position is available? Do children, babies, and/or animals put out intentions? If a child is abused, does that mean the child intended it in some way? If I intend for my relationship to improve, but my spouse doesn't seem to care, what will happen? These questions seem to weaken the plausibility of the Law of Attraction. Sometimes people answer them by going pretty far out. For example, it's been said by LoAers that a young child experiences abuse because s/he intended it or earned it during a past life. Well, sure... we can explain just about anything if we bring past lives into the equation, but IMO that's a cop-out. On the other hand, objective reality without the Law of Attraction doesn't provide satisfactory answers either - supposedly some kids are just born unlucky. That's a cop-out too. I've never been satisfied by others' answers to these questions, and they're pretty important questions if the Law of Attraction is to be believed. Some books hint at the solution but never really nail it. That nail, however, can be found in The Abraham Secret. This book goes in depth into why and how things happen to "innocent" people, and one crucial piece of evidence that validates the Law of Attraction for any non-believer.
