The desire for publishing this handy book has originally come from our long-time appetite for writing a non-voluminous book on soil and water management that can be used by students or any readers who need to have a quick glance on the scientific jargons, that are mostly used in soil and water management studies. Both the authors prepared intensely to crack ARS examination in soil sciences and land and water management engineering and are currently constituting the scientific team of ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute, RRS-Bhuj. The book aims to constructively write a handy compilation of all these scientific terms along with their simplified definitions so that the readers are offered with a tailored note of one-liners from each respective sub-topics.

An egocentric and personable man with an unforgettable history that could emotionally haunt any ordinary human, Monty, still in his early thirties, was officially single despite a reputation of having plentiful amorous adventures. He was internally annoyed with the constant cynical jibes about his obscure profession; an independent investigator during the day of petty crimes like frivolous thefts, but an impeccable lady's man by night. When destiny presented a sudden unanticipated chance, with the sole intention to shut the blabbering jokers up, he decided to investigate the mysterious murder of a lonely glamorous girl, with minimal aid from his apprentice and without any access to forensic science. What followed the crime scene investigation was a series of confrontation with perhaps the cleverest and astute accused people, strange events and confusing outcomes. Did he succeed even before the police and media could break the news to the innocent citizens of Kanpur?Remember, betrayals hurt more when they are wrapped in sweetness. Betrayals are encouraged by three selfish needs of human mind: Money, Love or Hate and Helplessness. The novel contains several betrayals which the reader might be fascinated with in every chapter. The novel also contains a focus on the culture, lifestyle and the wide social divide that exists among the people of the small Indian city, Kanpur. The theme of the book is obviously betrayals and it shows how different people betray even their close ones for one of the three reasons mentioned above. The novel is divided into nine chapters and each one has its own significance and is closely related to the ones preceding and following it.Chapter 1: Betrayal is intangible truthChapter 2: Redemption lies in remembranceChapter 3: Aim big, small aims are a crimeChapter 4: Do good and good will returnChapter 5: Is the road to success same as the road to failure?Chapter 6: Can someone blaze inside with outer ease?Chapter 7: Fight for rightChapter 8: Being affluent is a curse or a blessing?Chapter 9: Time moves so slow yet so fast
The Last Encounter" is a work of fiction. The story is about a burglar, who planned a furtive operation to rob an empty house. As he broke into the house, he was taken aback to find that the family left for vacation leaving a lady, presumably their domestic help, enslaved in the house. He left the house that night, but his qualm of conscience compelled him to keep coming back to help the lady escape from the confinement. The girl's narrative full of misery made him empathetic towards her. The next evening, as he returned to the house for a last time to take the lady away, he was shocked to realize that the girl mysteriously disappeared from the locked building. However, he accidentally found a diary written by the girl revealing unknown and agonizing truth. The diary narrated how the family she worked for tortured her and always kept her enslaved in her room. The burglar, determined to find the girl, surrendered to the Police along with the diary. He also wanted to expose the family members that apparently ill- treated their maid. Eventually, the Police investigation discovered a spine-chilling truth that left everybody baffled.
The book “Oxadiazole in Material and Medicinal Chemistry” is based on the utility of organic motifs that contain oxadiazole units in their molecular architecture. Most of the common and alternate ways to synthesize oxadiazole-based probes have been discussed. The book also features some of the advanced applications of such organic motifs in liquid crystals, OLEDs, imaging agents, and medicines. Few practical applications of oxadiazole-based molecules in material and electronic areas have also been outlined. The book focuses on understanding the role of oxadiazole scaffolds in biological events, disease monitoring, and detection. The therapeutic effect of oxadiazole-based probes on cancer, inflammation, and neurodegeneration have also been covered in the book. Oxadiazole probes in inhibitor design and the corresponding inhibitory potency as drug development have been outlined. The authors hope that the book will garner positive interest among students and researchers associated with material and medicinal chemistry.
This book presents a comprehensive legal and constitutional study of emergency powers from a comparative common law perspective. It is one of very few comparative studies on three jurisdictions and arguably the first one to explore in detail various emergency powers, statutory and common law, constitutional and statutory law, martial law and military acting-in-aid of civil authority, wartime and peacetime invocations, and several related and vital themes like judicial review of emergency powers (existence, scope and degree). The three jurisdictions compared here are: the pure implied common law model (employed by the UK), implied constitutional model (employed by the USA) and the explicit constitutional model (employed by India). The book’s content has important implications, as these three jurisdictions collectively cover the largest population within the common law world, and also provide maximum representative diversity. The book covers the various positions on external emergencies as opposed to internal emergencies, economic/financial emergencies, and emergent inroads being made into state autonomy by the central or federal governments, through use of powers like Article 356 of the Indian Constitution. By providing a detailed examination of the law and practice of emergency powers, the book shares a wealth of valuable insights. Specific sub-chapters address questions like – what is the true meaning of ‘martial law’; who can invoke ‘martial law’; when can it be invoked and suspended; what happens when the military is called in to aid civilian authorities; can martial law be deemed to exist or coexist when this happens; what are the limits on state powers when an economic emergency is declared; and, above all, can, and if so, when and how should courts judicially review emergency powers? These and several other questions are asked and answered in this study. Though several checks and constraints have been devised regarding the scope and extent of ‘emergency powers,’ these powers are still prone to misuse, as all vast powers are. A study of the legal propositions on this subject, especially from a comparative perspective, is valuable for any body politic that aspires to practice democracy, while also allowing constitutionally controlled aberrations to protect that democracy.
